Four Door Teg, First Honda
Hi everybody i just picked up a 1994 four door gs integra, it was a pretty good deal at only 500 bucks its a little rough but what do you expect for 500 bucks?
Good: motor is sound, interior is solid, and the body is straight
Bad: Automatic, front suspension is shot, the front end has minor cosmetic damage, and needs paint
I want to get the car in better condition before i start doing major work like paint, auto to manual swap and so forth, my primary concern is the suspension as the car has 189k on the odometer so any details about a suspension setup that would lower the car a bit and not be too pricey would be welcomed
Pics should be up later on today, Thanks guys

welcome to HT, in for pics.
Suspension will depend on how much you'll be willing to spend and how much cash you have to blow. How much would you like to lower the car, do you need adjustable height, etc.

O and suspension wise I've been looking at the koni yellow/groundcontrol setup but coilovers for the right price would be a better solution, height I don't want to go too low considering I live in VA and the road have quite a few bumps, price range would be about 750 to 850
bumpy roads do suck, back in kansas i rarely see any bumps, and the roads are too straight and wide bending lol lots of good racing roads back in america lol didnt see any bumpy or holey roads till i got to iraq thank god for humvees haha

If you're on a strict budget I recommend Progress II coilovers for the suspension ($550) and PIC/SUJA1 bushings ($225 although very expensive to install except as a full or partial DIY) as these will almost certainly need to be replaced if they haven't been already. You might also want to consider an ITR sway bar unless you go for very agressive rear spring rates.
Ive heard a lot of people going for the function and forms I might have have to look at the progressive 2's as well I've never heard of them though and its not really a tight budget build considering I have a daily driver right now I just want to look for the best suspension for the right price
haha thanks man, ill probably be starting a build thread in a couple of weeks after i get my money up, i think im going to go with the function and forms, and has anybody used energy bushings and if they are any good?
Is there a reason you want Function & Form?
Well I have a friend that's had function and forms on three of his hondas and he says he loves them and they aren't bad for the price so I don't see why not plus adjustable height is a good plus regardless
They aren't reliable -- they've been known on multiple occassions to leak, sometimes even out of the box (there's probably two or three active threads in the suspension forums right now warning people off FF shocks, among other brands). They also have a very limited range of adjustment, making them essentially un-adjustable, despite manufacturer claims to the contrary.
Most of the budget, Taiwanese made shocks are pretty terrible, unfortunately. Progress and Koni yellow are the only budget shocks I've never heard anyone say anything bad about, FWIW.
I've got no personal experience with any of them, unfortunately. Just going off of word-of-mouth here.

Hmm very interesting I thank you guys for aiming me towards good products I guess ill pick up the progress since I've been reading more reviews about them as well
I can't agree more. Just wait till you've been driving a manual for 4 or 5 years and you go back to an automatic. I slam my foot into the floor every time cause I forget theres no clutch, then after drving for 5 minutes I realize how amazing 5 speed really is. Good luck with your new toy man, Remember keep it clean and simple
thanks man, i think i am going to go with the progress csII's i got away from the ff1's after i saw all the horror threads lol,
updates on the car btw, removed about 30 ft of speaker wiring where the car had some huge sound system and tv's in the trunk, i have a feeling this car couldve possibly been in a fast and furious movie
