Default flipkc's 91' Civic Si Project

Hey all,

Been going back and forth in my mind with whether or not I should keep the car or try something else, but since I'm getting another car within the next few weeks or so, I thought I'd keep this and see what can be done as far as making it a good daily/respectable Autocross car. I will be going for a fully functional setup.

Prequel: Bought the car completely stock back in November of 2010 as a daily driver. Drove it straight through the winter and to my ex-gf's house in Chilliwack from Langley 3-4 times a week not including weekends. Put almost 12,000kms 4 months or so. Decided to buy some suspension and take it out Autocrossing...

Current specs (May 16 2011):
1991 Civic Si Hatchback
276,000kms
Original D16A6 engine
Original Cable Si transmission
OEM Clutch
Timing Belt/Water Pump completed 10,000kms ago
OEM Axles
OEM Brakes (Rotors/Pads/Fluid/Master/Slave/etc.)
2.5" Axleback Exhaust
OEM Midpipe Exhaust piping
OEM Exhaust Manifold
Full OEM Interior
OEM Front & Rear Sway Bars
Neuspeed Front Strut Bar
Aftermarket Adjustable Rear Strut Bar
Koni Yellow Shocks
H&R Race Springs
Ground Control Extended Top Hats (Front)
Custom Extended Top Hats (Rear)
HKS Short Ram Intake
Momo Tuner 320mm Steering Wheel
Race: TWM Extended Shifter w/ Spoon Rep Shift ****
Daily: Stock Shifter/Shift ****
Aftermarket Window Visors
OEM Honda Sunroof Visor
6000k HID's
VW MK3 Front Lip
JVC CD Player with Aux in
Enkei RPF1 Black Edition 15x7 +35 Offset Wheels
Toyo T1R 195/45/15 Tires
BWR Gold Lugnuts
Ichiba 15mm Bolt On Wheel Spacers (Fronts)

Ver.1 build in progress (to keep in class ST):
Acquired/On Order

- Lower Tie Bar (acquired)
- T3 7mm Wheel Spacers (4) (on order - 1-2 weeks)
- Buddy Club Spec 2 Catback Exhaust (ordered - 1-2 weeks)

Next:
- ASR 24mm Rear Sway Bar
- Repaint Valve Cover & Install OEM Honda VC Seal/Gaskets
- NRG Quick Release
- Refresh/Paint Mouldings Black
- PW:JDM Amber Corner Lights
- D-series Header
- C-Pillar Bar
- ASR Rear Subframe Brace
- Energy Master Bushing Kit
- Hawk HP+ Pads
- Spoon Duracon Shift ****
- SS Brake Lines
- Readjust Rear Brakes/Parking Brake
- Reman. D16A6 Alternator w/ belt
- Valve Adjustment
- 4 Wheel Alignment @ Dale's Alignment

On the horizon:
- Bride Zeta 2 Seat w/ LowMax rails (Thanks Anton)
- Weksos Polyurethane J's Racing Front Lip
- FIA approved 4pt harness
- Nardi/Personal Steering Wheel Hub Adapter
- Nardi 340mm Deep Dish Steering Wheel
- Stage 1 Clutch w/ Lightened Flywheel
- Mishimoto Radiator Setup
- Cold Air Intake
- Larger exhaust manifold
- Wire Tuck
- Vacuum Line Tuck
- Z6/Y8 Head Swap
- ITB's...
- Autopower 6pt Cage

In the end I just want a nice clean daily with a healthy motor that I can track hard any time that I want. The D16 is not tired whatsoever and still impresses me on the skidpad but I feel like with more power, better tires, and uprated suspension, I can keep up with the other high powered ST cars or even dip into FWDSMF.

This thread will be used to document the build, I will be taking pictures along the way as well to keep myself and you all up to date.

Should be fun.

Thanks guys! Yeah I got really lucky with this find. As far as I know nothing I've put on the car is JDM, haha . I just try to keep my stuff as clean as I can.

Stoked to pick up my spacers today so I can atleast widen the track at the front by 30mm and the rears by 14mm. Hopefully this will increase stability since I'm not allowed a front sway bar in my Class.

I still have my JDM FC T2 sitting at home, but I don't think I'm going to start building her till next winter, lol.

Envious! No salt on the roads out there. You gotta krown like crazy out here to look only half as nice as your ride.

Haha, bay is still stock so still has all vac lines etc. Eventually I'll get to it, still want to decide if I'm going to keep the head stock or do a mini-me. Either way, expect a vacuum and wire tuck.

Pictures added!

This is VERY similar to my 91 Si I recently picked up minus the fact mine is completely stock still...which will probably change into something like yours relatively soon. I think the way the tint looks on the back of yours is helping to inspire me to invest in the same.

Sweet! I'll definitely be following this thread. It will be good to get some insight on that pesky rust.

Thanks for the comments guys! Means a lot coming from people who aren't in the area (and from H-T) haha!

Just a little update:
- Ordered the BC Spec 2, should be here in 2-3 weeks (was in stock at warehouse).
- Installed Ichiba 15mm spacers up front, widened the track nicely. Pictures to follow!
