Touch up suggestions for CR-X SI
Hi guys, i just bought a 1990 CR-X SI with a GSR engine swap the other day for $3k. now although this car has a nicely built engine and alot of power
it does need some cosmetic work.
I can get to the cosmetics later on, such as some new fenders and a new hood and a paint job but what really concernse me right now are things such as my brakes and also adding some durability/ stiffness.
I need to get new brake pads and also some new rotors, i would also like to get a strut bar, under brace, and a 6-point roll cage.
Does anybody know of any good sites and also what brand i should get??
Im looking for some good quality vented rotors and some ceramic pads,
this car will be my daily driver but it is also very fast so i would like to add some performance pieces so i could have fun with it here and there.
I also need a good caliper kit and as far as the roll cage, strut bar, and under brace go, i dont really know much so your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! and feel free to ask for some more info!

as far as the brakes go, im planning on getting them from password. they have their own vented rotors and sell good ceramic pads for a reasonable price.
For brakes I recommend:
Brembo Blanks
Hawk HP+
Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Good Quality Brake Fluid
Pair this with a good set of TIRES and your car will be able to stop on a dime. Don't forget proper alignment and brake adjustment.
Cheers!

k, so im looking at some pretty good brake kits now, im gonnna get some front and rear strut bars from ebay and i can hold off on the underbrace for now but im looking into some 6 and 8 point roll cages, im not sure if i need just the main hoop or if i also need to get the strut kit?
what are the differences? and does it matter if i just go with the main hoop for now?

They come with vented rotors and ceramic pads which is exactly what im looking for but the price makes them seem like they might be very cheaply made. does anyone know if these are reliable??
Also would it just be better to go with blank rotors since i will mostly be doing daily driving around the city? i know it would be alot cheaper

Sorry but, your logic behind "better braking" is a little flawed.
Big brake kits and crazy caliper/rotor/pad setups are not going to do you any good if you don't have the suspension/tires/settings to accomodate them.
The setup I suggested is a great street AND track setup. With proper ducting on the track and a fluid change, you'll still be braking incredibly.
Your stock brakes will lock up no matter what, with a street tire and enough pressure.
Post up your budget and work with it. I bet you that you can get the setup I suggested for WELL UNDER $300 TOTAL, taxes included.

yeah so i found some pretty nice brembo blanks for about half the price of some drilled ones on autopartswarehouse.com
I can also get some ceramic or some hp hawk pads for about 100 and for another 100 some nice stainless steel brake lines.
hows that set up sounds??
it should all come out to around 400, about the price for just some drilled rotors
