Long story short, my brothers EP3 is getting an engine swap currently. He is not into the performance honda stuff like I am, just a stock EP3. So we ordered another engine for it from jdmenginedepot, and I just got home to pull the plastic off. The engine code says K20A, with a black intake cover and black plastic intake manifold. Also the oil cap says the whole thing about seeing the owners manual, not an actual oil grade/weight. And it does have a p/s pump on it, not a dummy gear like the EP3 with the EPS has.

Any idea what we got here? And any issues so far as putting this one in? We were hoping to just drop it right in, no issues. And what did this engine come out of?

That could be a Type-R... what's the ECU number?

 

dave, it looks exactly like the base model rsx engine. but says honda on the valve cover, not the acura badge, and 'k20a' stamped on the block.


it did not come with an ecu.

isnt there a full vin of the car it came off of on there somewhere?

 

I also found a barcode on the engine harness that had the ECU code 'PNA' on it.

any clue there?

 

Ok, got the engine next to the old one. First we noticed the new engine has this black diaphragm thing mounted to the left of the intake, old one does not have this. any input there?

and we noticed the new one has 4 ECU plugs on the harness, old one has three.
