Default Noise-canceling exhaust like Corsa on a Honda?

Two questions:

- Has anyone had any experience with Corsa exhausts that use sound canceling technology to reduce/eliminate drone? Their muffler is a straight-through design that uses a series of baffles that the sound is channeled through, supposedly creating the same sound 180 degrees out of phase, canceling the sound. It sounds like the muscle car guys really like them. Does it really work well?

- Is there anything like this out there for Hondas? It would be great to have a straight-through muffler with some decent sound canceling.

Not me.

In theory, destructive wave interference is highly effective. However, it only works for a very specific frequency for each tuned chamber. This means the muffler would need to be designed specifically for your existing exhaust sound, and even something such as a header change could render the muffler ineffective.

Looks like they only offer exhaust for BMWs and domestics though.

Flowmaster mufflers work similarly, though many owners complain about a drone at specific RPM ranges. Section "A" of the muffler is reflecting sound waves for destructive interference.

The stock S2000 exhaust has a capped pipe that branches off the main pipe for this purpose. I know of nothing aftermarket that does this though.

Indeed.

I had a Corsa catback on my Viper (stock headers/cats). As far as drone, there wasn't much difference between that and the stock exhaust. But the Viper was an odd design--the muffler and exhaust tips sit in the center of the car, under the trunk, and the fiberglass trunk floor acts like a giant resonator. It was much more effective in that car to use vibration damping material (Second Skin Damplifier), which helped a lot more than the exhaust swap, I found.

Our corsa kit on our c6 z06 droned like a mother on the highway between 1500 and 2k.. we found ourselves driving in 5th at highway speeds. don't get me wrong, the sound is pure raw aggression but without cats drone was bad... we put a catted x pipe back in and it helped a bit.

another thing to note is at least with v8's the corsa note becomes higher compared to most systems, it takes a lot of the lows out and gives it a more exotic sound.

As far as using a similar muffler on our cars, its not really practical. they arent that small (each one of the z06 mufflers was roughly the size of a 5 gallon bucket) and there isn't that much room underneath our cars and nothing is readily engineered

and last I checked corsa doesn't sell just mufflers... I know this because we had road debris damage a muffler/tip and they wouldn't just sell us the individual parts.

It sounds good in theory but it takes way too much tinkering to get a real world example andand honestly a muffler with packing just works better... for what its worth, we went through 3 more exhaust systems on our z06 before settling for a full titanium Akrapovic system.
