Default Shelbyz4u2nv's Build Thread: NH-536M 1991 CRX Si

Since my last thread got locked for some reason... This thread will list all the following i have done to the car, and i will continue to update progress weekly, with pictures and info. Hope everyone enjoys my journey with this car

My BMW build thread...she came a LONG way http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1548409

To start, a little intro and my background. I'm a certified master Volvo technician of 7 yrs, im 26 now, a huge car addict as i have owned many cars in the past and currently own a 95' BMW 540i 6spd which i have finally finished restoring (1 of 7), a MINT 90' BMW 325is 5spd, an 87' Shelby Z Daytona 5spd, and now a beloved 91' CRX Si 5spd. This is my second crx, i had an 89 Si a few years ago but sold it 2 weeks later, as it was a complete rust bucket

A little run down on the car, the interior is a 9.5 out of 10, exterior 6.5 out of 10 to my standards. I bought it from the original owner (older couple) who saved EVERY single service record, amazing! It was well loved and cared for, always garaged and will continue to be cared for. My plans for the car are to restore it to its original glory with upgrades to the suspension, wheels, and fix the minor rust. I also want to add many rare OEM parts to the car over time, so let the hunting begin... Car leaks zero oil, pulls hard, tracks straight and has just had a major overhaul with the A/C system, including all new lines and compressor, which was performed at the Honda dealer by the prev owner... yea they loved it...and good for me

Ive had the car for about 2 months now, and already replaced a ton of stuff, all new OEM..
-Plugs, fuel filter, air filter
-Front Si lip spoiler,
-Rear section exhaust fitted with new 90-93 oem integra tips (wanted the closest look to the SiR muff)
-Fully adjustable Koni yellows with H&R race springs, new top mounts
-Performed a coolant flush, oil change, replaced the trans fluid with BG syncro-mesh
-Password JDM shift boot, skunk2 weighted **** and other little stuff here and there, but i'll just let the pics show the progress over the past 2 months

Completely Stock after i took her home

And now onto the revival/build
Part # to oem Si muffler

Part # to Integra tips

No tips

With 90-93 OEM Integra tips

i couldnt stand the condition these were in...

Im using 180 grit, 400, 1000, 2000 then spraying them with duplicolor silver wheel paint, then masking off and painting the center "H" with black.. i do have a question though... were the "H" centers ever painted red??? im asking because in Forza 3 the "H" was red on those center caps instead of black. i searched and couldn't find any info, and lol i know a video game is not the best research

Pics of the new shift boot, im also going to see if the OEM CD player will still work. i was back there while putting the boot in and no power is hooked up to it... lets hope for the best

Koni adjustables and H&R race

A shot at my local track after suspension install

Mud flaps

And here is a rear shot with the new stance, exhaust, and mudflaps installed.. Shes starting to look a ton better. And i spoiled her with a sweet steering wheel which should be here by the end of the month...and yes its an OEM wheel

lol, aside from the suspension, everything on this car will only be replaced with rare Honda factory options, and parts. I don't even want the skunk 2 shifter and boot, i want to source a pair from that rare black CRX exclusive interior...nothing will be short changed on this car, take a look at my BMW build thread I plan on getting all the body work performed, small rust repaired and finally a fresh respray in the factory color... AND keeping the d16a6

I am super jealous! I wish I had kept my 1990 NH 536M Si that clean. In for more progress, and all for keeping it close to stock. I love a clean factory look over any hellaflush, jdm junk any day of the week!

I am so jealous of you having that steering wheel! I've been trying to ****** one up on eBay, but they've been getting away from me. Forgot about one, got outbid for another on a low budget week, and an expensive one that had been around for a while which I was finally going to buy was gone a few hours prior to me logging on and clicking buy it now...

You'll love the wheel, I have one that came in my EF8, and it is in terrible condition but I still enjoy it.

By the way, awesome job on the car! I really like how you're fixing it up.

J Marc, if your still interested in picking up a wheel like this..there is a guy selling a decent one on CRXcomunity for $120, here is the link for his FS thread. I was going to pick this on up but i found a MINT condition one that came with a hub so i passed. I also bought my suspension from him, legit and good seller

Thanks, I'll have to check that out, definitely a good price if it's in worthwhile condition.

Detailed the engine bay using soap and water with a pressure hose, cover all the important electrical stuff with plastic bags and went to town. Came out decent then dressed it up a bit with some Ardex rubber and vinyl shine

took some other shots after i clay bared and polished the car

Received my steering wheel finally, sooo worth the month wait... Pics of it installed tomorrow
