Default quiet exhaust for my b20v?

Im gonna start putting my motor back together real soon and im looking at exhuast options. Im thinking either a 2.5 exhaust pipe, vibrant 18" resonator, and a ws2 muffler. Or the same setup but only 3". But i heard 3" can get really loud. I also dont want any drone on the freeway since this will be my DD for a while. Any input is apreciated.

Ohh im gonna be using a hy-tech rep header with a 2.5" collector

Exhaust size will be dictated by how much power you plan to make. The 2.5 inch exhaust will handle a B20V just fine. A 3 inch is usually only needed once you go turbo and want to uncork it a little.

There are several options. A local exhaust shop could fab up a system fairly cheap. That would take care of your piping. For the resonator, Vibrant or a Thrush, Cherry Bomb, or some other glass pack will make a decent resonator. They are essentially the same thing.

For the muffler, the WS2 is very nice. There is a knockoff of the WS2 system. The infamous "eBay twin loop" is known to be good sounding. The turbo or super turbo mufflers from Autozone or Advance are supposed to be quiet if used with a resonator. There is some Ford Explorer muffler a friend was talking about that is supposed to work.

For the Hytech replica header, don't be surprised if you can't get the two pieces together. I bought one and due to them welding the little pieces on the collector end for the bolts to go through, two of the pipes wouldn't go in. I had to cut and pry the flared pieces of pipe open to fit the two pieces together. Also I had to use two screwdrivers to get all 4 pipes to line up. eBay for the loss!
