Default Help me Understand. Turbo EMS.

Ok. First of all I am new to the racing scene. And I know turbo is the last thing I should be getting involved with.

However my uncle wants to help me project my car. He rebuilds motors and knows his stuff. I have a stock D16y7 non vtec. I know I could swap for an LS motor and build from there.

But I am just looking for something to just give my car an extra kick but also the power when I'm at the track. It's my daily driver.

So long story short. Me and my uncle bought different parts to put a turbo kit together. Not one of those cheap eBay kits. Now I'm planning to upgrade my internals before I install the turbo. Vitara Pistons and Eagle rods. ARP head rods and A better fuel pump. What else will I need? What's the deal with the map sensor what will I need?

Lastly what will I need in preparation for a shop to tune her. Will I need to get a chipped ecu? Where can I get that done at? No local shops do it where I'm at. And will I need anything else besides that?

Edit - whoops maybe I need to read better.

You can purchase chipped ECUs directly from vendors on this site. Sounds like you're OBD2, so you'll need an adapter harness to convert backwards to OBD1 in order to run a chipped ECU. This means that in some states, you can't pass emissions testing. So be sure to check that before you do this (no, there are no other tuning options).

There are several other Tuning options for OBD2, though not the most popular here on H-T

-GReddy E-manage ultimate
-AEM F/IC
-AEM EMS
-Apexi Power FC
