Default Could I have a T-stat stuck open?

I was driving home from work tonight when I happen to glance at my temp gauge "What The......" I'm thinking the thermostat is stuck open. When I sit at idle the temp goes up, but soon as I start moving down she goes.

Do you have any modifications done to your cooling system at all?

Has your cluster been altered in any way? Looks like an R tach with a non-R temp gauge.

How far does your temp needle rise when you're at idle?

You may have a open T-Stat, but thats pretty low for the needle to be...

Yep they sure do. When I got home I let the car sit at idle, the temp rose to normal and the fans kicked on and off.

Yes I have a 3 core aluminium radiator, running 60/20 mix coolent/water & water wetter additive. And yes I have the R tach with GSR everything else. Its been operating like normal for months, until last night.

oh, so it's not actually overheating? i thought when you said "it goes up", you meant it overheats. t-stat regulates max temperature. so if it's overcooling, it's gonna be the t-stat

Likely open t-stat. The needle is lower on your gauge because of the radiator you are using. With that 3 core, you're running your DB way under temps on the highway.

Wait, you said, "When I sit at idle the temp goes up, but soon as I start moving down she goes" so if you move faster [75-80MPH, with A/C on] the engine temp. goes up again? 94

Check your coolant level and replace the thermostat. It's a cheap fix.

Yep, checked the coolant level before leaving to work. Level is perfect and coolant reservoir was perfect.
