Cheapest fix for blown compression rings?
Hey guys I have a 99 ex and it started runnin sluggish one day until it had zero power and started poppin and all kinds of stuff. Long story short I got the head rebuilt and replaced the head gasket and it still doesn't have compression in to cyl's.
What would be the cheapest easiest way to go about fixin it?
I've never messed with the actual internals of a block so I was just looking for a block to buy but every one I find so ridiculously over priced. Would it be sensible if I found a decent 1.5 block?
Any feedback or input at all would be appreciated... Please!
Thanks,
Brenen

I think the cheapest way would be to open up the block and give it a re-ring.. duh? Replace the bearings while you're at it.. I mean yes technically you're suppose to give it a good rebuild but if doing a re-ring and replacing the bearings means the difference between tossing this block and not, then I'd say go for it. It'd be good experience for you to learn how to do a partial rebuild.

Yes
I would almost consider reusing the bearings if money were that big of an issue.
Though, I'm somewhat skeptical that you have two cylinders with completely bad compression rings....sounds like something else might be going on.

Find a D16Y7 engine or block locally on craigslist from a part out vehicle. Its the same block essentially as the Y8 and has all the sensors you'll need.
