Default H series trans case with f series trans question

I've heard you can just put the h series trans case on the f series trans and be done with it but then i've just heard you have to shim the internals of the f series trans to put the h series casing any info?

H & F transmissions are the same the only difference is gearing and the studs for the trans mount....

IIRC the gear sets are not 100% compatible, they need to be swapped in pairs. Also if you are asking about swapping H gears into an F trans, I don't think it works without machining/grinding out a portion of the F series housing.

There are a couple threads that I read years ago about this but have not done anything personally. I was thinking about using some of the H23 gears in my F trans but haven't really pursued it yet. Too many other things on the go!

nope just use the two nut method to remove the stud and put it in the other hole....

I had a h22 1st 2nd 3rd 4th with a f series 5th and final drive... the 5th gear had to be machined down a bit to work! was put together by a friend of mine....but to my knowledge nothing had to be done with the case.

My f22 trans is from a 90- 91 ex accord so the car is diff from the standard f series meaning you cant do the 2 stud method because the bosses that need to be tapped aren't there

I dont know man.....I had both the cases sitting next to each other and each one had an extra hole already tapped for a different chassis(prelude). Mine came out of a 93. the other case was from a prelude sh. Are you just needing a new case... or do you want some shorter gears? I have a H23 case laying around! I'm in MO too!

why dont you just swap a hole h22 trans in? shortening up the gears made a huge difference in the powerband on my f series

Yea and I can't do the whole take the 2 studs out and tap the bosses bc my case doesn't have then because my trans is out of a 90-91 ex accord and they are the odd ball trans case

I see....Swap the gear sets and see... you could find shims... syncrotech should have them.... I dont think there would be any difference... the case might not have the bosses...but honda likes to keep everything the same. I dont think they would be different length input/output shafts.

I don't think so either but I was just wanting to know before I took my good trans apart. I've not swapped the gears yet because I've never done it and don't really want to. I just want to go the easiest route

its just a case....no gear sets....but I tell you what bro....If you want it you can have it for free....pick up only... located just east of Jefferson city. It would need some cleaning. I think the diff is still in it.
