Edwin's True Street Ek
Edwin's been a good friend of ours over here at RaceLAB for a while now and he recently wanted to make a few changes to make the car competitive for the NSCRA True Street class.
Over the years the car has been through a few different setups. From the original B series swap which he later boosted. Later, he then swapped out for a K series on boost. Little by little, like most of us, the car snowballed into a much more serious car than he originally intended.
The car before:

We first began working on his car when we worked at another local shop, but once we left and opened up our own shop, Edwin loving the way we worked on his previous stuff, decided to bring his business to us.
The setup originally consisted of a piston and rod K20a2 with a stock 6 spd transmission. Using a crappy sidewinder manifold and a Precision billet 67mm turbo, the car made 7XX hp and he began to want to start taking the car to the track. Using a stock ep3 5 spd, he had nothing but transmission/axle issues. He then later switched to a PPG synchro box but changing out synchros got old. The car could only run a best of 10.0@155, the transmission just would not shift at high rpm and the wastegate placement on the manifold wouldn't allow us to bring the boost down low enough in first gear to make the setup work. The mph was more than enough to get the car in the 9's but the rest of the suspension/trans setup, would not allow it. The car had no traction bar, shot suspension bushings and way the old suspension was too soft. The car also had a set of ekk1 mounts, so the axle angle left alot to be desired. In short, It made the power but couldn't put it to down.
Fast forward to today, The car has seen a bunch of changes since he brought it over to us.
As the car sits right now:

Engine setup:
RaceLAB 2.0 Built motor
Stock port Cylinder head from 4Piston
IPS KT1 Camshafts

Fuel System:
ID2000's
2x Bosch 044
AEM EMS V2
AEM solenoid and co2 for boost control
Rear wheel speed sensor

Turbo kit:
Precision Billet 6768
RaceLAB Custom T4 Sidewinder
TiAL v60 wastegate
TiAL Q bov
RaceLAB 4" downpipe
RaceLAB Intercooler Piping
Racelab 1000hp intercooler (Garret core)
Transmission setup:
PPG 1-4 Dog Engagement gear set w/cuff
PPG ring gear
Competition Clutch Twin Disk
DSS 5.9 axles

Few items we changed recently:
After loads of badgering and insults, Edwin was pear pressured into painting his car one solid color lol. At the same time, he got a good deal on a Exospeed front end and jumped on that as well. Here it is painted with the stock front end.

Then after the front end

Upgraded his T3 6765 to a slightly larger T4 6768.
We will also be making his a custom RaceLAB sidewinder and use a 60mm TiAL gate to control boost.

Switched out his Weldon 2025 to dual bosch 044's . At the same time, He also switched out his Injector WiZZZards for a set of ID2000's (Thanks Tony
) We mounted the pumps using a T1 dual o44 hanger. So simple and gets the job done. The new pumps are much quieter than the Weldon and capable of higher pressure too. Plus he plans to drive the car on the street every now and then and wanted something rated for continuous duty.

We remounted his shifter up and further back to make it more comfortable for him to drive it.

We remade his Parachute mount to allow the trunk to be opened with the chute in place and the license plate to stay on the car since it will be driven on the street(with the parachute off obviously)

He decided to switch up his rim and tire combo. He had the rear wheels powder coated black and we got him a set of V2 competition wheels for the front.

We installed a set of D2 drag coilovers on the car to replace the old TEIN coilovers he had on the car also. Along with that we replaced all the bushings in the suspension with either new Honda bushings or Energy suspension bushing depending on the location.
He also purchased a Ktuned Traction bar to help the suspension stay where its supposed to be lol
Another major improvement was the switch from the original Hasport Ekk1 mounts to the Eg subframe and EKK2 mounts. The helped us out big time as far as axle angle. We replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends as well as the steering rack bushings just to be sure its all nice and firm.

We are currently working on making a new turbo manifold. We will be updating this thread with new pictures and info as we continue to get the car ready to race.
For now here is a teaser for his new manifold
