Kings Performance Street S2King goes 9's on Drag Radials
We can not be more happy with the results of this past crazy weekend @ the 2nd NSCRA event @ Palm beach International, FL.
This has been a long project that we have been working on testing & trying new things. We've change little things here and there to try to make the car as fast as posible without having to sacrifice the drivability of the car for the street.
This is a funny story!
We've been having problems with the tail housing of the tranny. Everytime we would put the car on the dyno and make some good hp the tail case will cracked, so we have been trying to find the solution and thank god for my best friend Jose "Pepo" Besosa from Red Star Motoring that was here working with us last week on getting the car ready for the Event. He was able to find the fix to my problem! Wooohooo
Well, we put the tranny back on the car Thursday night and went to bleed the clutch and one of the braided clutch line of the hydraulic bearing started leaking
Our tuner Omar Crespo @ Area51 Tuned was leaving Friday @ 7am to Jamaica to tuned some cars of the cars of the Carribean Time Attack tour. We had no time for him to put it on the dyno and finish the tuning we had started before. Because of the tranny problems we had to stopped @ 20psi. Omar left Friday morning to Jamaica & forgot to give me the password to the AEM V2
So when we do finish the car on Friday and Pepo & I decide to go to the dyno, we remember about NOT having the password
. With the luck I have the boost controller is with the AEM, so we couldn't do anything & Omar had no phone in Jamaica. Pepo looks @ me and says "Let's go old school & use a manual boost controller" and I started laughing.... Oh well, we want to go racing so lets do it. Thanks to AEM for making the boost compensation & Omar for using it, we were able to raise the boost without having to touch the ecu. Hahahaha
1st pass @ 20psi made 610whp, 2nd pass @ 25psi 680whp & 3rd pass @ 28psi 755whp and Pepo said that all I need to go 9's!
We get to the track on Sunday & off the trailer the car goes 10.2 @ 142mph w/ 1.87 on the 60's. I'm all happy and when he gets back he tells me "We have a problem" and I was like what? He says with a sad face: The car will not make it to the finish line
The rev limiter is too low (9,000rpm). The car is hitting the rev limiter like 50-70 feet before the finish line. We both look @ each other & go back to thinking: "Omar is not here & we don't have the password, so we can not access or change anything on the AEM". LOL
The only thing we could do is play around with the tire pressure :/
We ran the entire event hitting the rev limiter before the finish line.
1st pass: 10.2 @ 142mph
2nd pass: 10.0 @ 142mph
3rd pass: 9.9 @ 142mph

Thats something to look into, I had to shift into 5th and it was like hitting a wall, and banging 4th of the limiter doesn't help the cause either, haha.
this is one of my favorite built s2k's of all time...
how are you going to fix the rev limit issue?
The drag radials are already a huge suprise, but whats even more suprising is how the hell you're able to grip with skinny ap1 rims????
did you modify anything with those ap1 rims to make them wider??
and what tires you're using for them?
Ive always hesitated to use ap1 for the track but maybe you could change my mind if you say they dont give you any issues - let us know!

The reason we couldn't set the rev limiter was because my tuner wasn't @ the track that day. All we need to do is raise the limiter to 10,000 rpm & everything will be set to run 9.7's @ 150mph

The M/T 255/50/16 drag radials are the best thing they have invented & they fit perfectly on the AP1 wheels.
Fernando @ Kings Performance
But Omar my tuner he has the same tire on his S2k & Last Friday he did 1.53 60's :D
The car ran 10.8 @ 104mph letting off because it got crazy up top on 3rd because the alligment.
This M/T drag radial tires are the best set up for S2000. Don't look anywhere else.
