rear main removal
i got everything off and im looking at the main seal. theres this plate aorund it (b16) that looks like it holds it on, but i unbolted the plate and it wont come off! how do i remove this plate? its been leaking alot fo oil from inside between the trans and the block and i just wanna take everyhting out and make sure its all sealed before i throw it back together
I forgot how many bolts there are, but when I did mine, even with all the bolts off, the cover was on there pretty good. I had to tap it several times with a mallet to get it off.
im afraid of warping the plate. where did u tap it and did u sue a screwdriver? im also curious about the sealant on it, it looks and feels pretty hard anything special u used to put it back on with?
The plate should be sealed with Hondabond and held in alignment by two dowel pins.
There are pry spots all over it. Look for any peice of the plate that hangs over the mating surface. That is where you can pry it slowly working both sides with a screwdriver and rag.

no problem. Just make sure to clean the mating surfaces and put a bead of hondabond (Permatex Ultra Grey at Pepboys) on their to seal it up on reassembly.
