Default Modifying '99 Honda Civic Si

Hey everyone,
I got a 1999 Honda Civic Si and im looking at modifying it but thats where I'm weak. I want to put in a new air intake and exhaust(or just a muffler idk). Aas well as lowering it and putting new rims on it. So my question is could i get your guys' help with ideas and where to go? I live in San Diego, CA so if that helps than theres that. But other than that I would just like to get your ideas on what to modify to make it look/sound more slick.

Appreciate it!

-go with apexi ws2 exhaust (probably the best on the market)
-lower your car with some ksports(decent price and worth it)
-and with the rims u have to go want u like(i perfer not to go any bigger then 15 inch maybe 16 in)
-a front lip(u can get decent polyuthene lips on ebay woth every penny)
-some fog lights (jdm yellow lens)

op, please don't listen to the guy above me. except about the world sport 2.

your car should be perfectly fine how it is now, only thing i did when i had my em1 i lowered it with koni yellows on some progress blue springs. it gave it a nice drop but not too aggresive. but your in california, im sure there is alot of nice parts store there.

00 Si owner here. I have come to the conclusion that ANYTHING you do to your car will make it so much more likely to be stolen. It's not going to be a fast car unless you dump some serious money into it, so honestly just keep it clean and enjoy what you have. I have had more random people come up to me impressed that I have a stock EM1 than anything actually....almost to the point that I think it'll get stolen for being relatively stock.

If you must throw your vacation money at it, get a short ram intake and an aftermarket high flow cat. You dont need to upgrade the exhaust, you will feel more with just replacing the cat....speaking from experience. I have the OEM foglights and like the look of them as well.

keep it simple...skunk2 bolt ons

-intake manifold
-header
-exhaust
-coilovers or adjustable sleeves

you sound like your into the look and crisp sound of a dd not all out performance so...just buy skunk2 bolt ons.

skunk2 intake manifold on a SI is useless without a tune and cams. keep stock intake manifold. i had my skunk2 manifold on my 2000 SIR with no tune and i/h/e it actually slowed it down. a simple build would be:

i/h/e (do some research on these) skunk2 makes a good header but it's exhaust sounds like ****, skunk2 test pipe, ot T1R cat works great, and a nice catback, make sure all your piping is the same diameter.

stock SI (SIR) wheels look great redone with fresh center caps. 205/50R15's your choice

lowering for street use daily driving i would go with a H&R lowering spring and koni yellows. lower tie bar, and front and rear strut bars are always nice.

and a skunk2 short shifter and shift ****. ACT clutch if yours is going.

honestly stock SI's are hard to find and kind of refreshing to see. waht i listed is a nice daily driver, that isn't too much money to put together, depending on what header you get, my toda was 1300... don't just hit ebay up and buy every random engine part you can buy without having a plan.

If you plan on modifying to the point where it doesnt look stock anymore definatly get an alarm first before wasting money on other things and keep your Si in the garage.

First upgrade should be suspension

I would personally (as would alot of people out there) go with the koni yellow and ground control set up, but would cost you about 8-900 with top hats. But if your more of on a budget, function and form type 2 are pretty decent too and you can get em for 650-700 brand new.

or this

first off Si already come with a Lip on it...
second off do basic bolt ons if you do not want to spend lots of cash
don't spend 200 dollars on a Password JDM whale ***** intake its useless just get some piping with a drop in K&N Filter
Fir the header get some quality so you dont have to replace it later on
Exhaust WS2 none of that muffler crap u mentioned get an actual exhaust

But before you do that!
make sure the Spark Plugs/Wires are in tact
all gaskets are good
has no leaks
PCV valve
Oil
brakes

it is better to have a car that runs strong and is stock than a car that runs like Sh*t with boltons

you have to at least give greddy a chance exhaust wise
k&n cold air intake, greddy cat back system and dc headers made a huge difference for my 99

too bad dc headers are garbage.

if you REALLY wanna do this lets go all out.
start with a security system.
koni/GC shocks, f7 LCAs,sway/strut bars, custom exhaust from kteller/vrs, with hiflow cat/resonator and muffler from where ever, 500+ header unless its a replica, then 200+. personally i just ran a stock header til i could afford a good one.
keep your stock rims.
and thats the basics.

Sup man. Fellow SD EM1 owner here. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, this is my 3rd EM1. I'd be glad to help you out with anything you need.

One tip - buy quality parts. The resale value on rare stuff is usually the same after you've owned it for a year or two. In fact, I've sold some parts for MORE than I bought them for. Ebay crap is worthless as soon as you buy it.

and buy some type of car alarm or anti-theft device first though if you live somewhere where there are lots of cars stolen and you cant park the car in a locked garage every night

Since everyone here seems to know a lot about brands can you give me some advice/ opinions. I am going to purchase a 2000 si this coming week and it has some mods done to it already but I know nothing about brands in this field. It has the following:
GSR MOTOR BOARDED TO A 2.0, THE EXHUAST HAS A 2 1/2IN. PIPING FROM FROM TO BACK, IT HAS JE PISTONS, GOLDEN EAGLE RODS AND CRANK, IT HAS FERRERA VALVES, SUPERTECH SPRING, RETAINERS AND GUIDES. IT HAS SKUNK 2 CAMS WITH A B16 TRANS, IT HAS A SKUNK 2 CHIP COMPUTER. THE OUTSIDE IS CLEAN, STOCK WITH 2IN. DROPPED SKUNK 2 SPRINGS WITH SWIRLEYS.

Everybody's list will be different, here's mine...

- 94+ integra seats
- B18C shortblock
- lightened flywheel
- quality clutch

The last 3 items will make real power, much more than any crappy bolt ons
