So I have a 5-speed dx that is popping out of gear any time I let off the clutch. It does it in all gears except 4th for some reason. I'm at a crossroads as to what to do about it. I've heard to try gm syncromesh, replace the tranny, replace the shifter bushings, but due to a severely limited budget, I pretty much need a solid answer from people who know what they are talking about.

 

I should add it has a bad wheel bearing, the engine is burning oil, and the clutch is beginning to slip. I just have never had this problem on any of my cars before.

 

First thing you shoild do is check the level of fluid in your tranny. Low fluid could result in popping out of gears.
