Default Coolant temp sensor ?

I think iv narrowed my heat fluctuation down to the cts because my fan stopped working...my check engine light will pop up when the heat rises and I might have smoke and the engine bay doesn't seem any hotter

So what I would like to know is where the sensor is located on a gsr? And if there hard to change/prices!

Please help me out

It is not the ECT sensor, it is the ECT switch, [rad fan switch] two different "units".

It is located on the thermostat housing, where lower rad hose is connected to engine.

Unplug it and jump the green and black leads, if rad fan turns on, replace the switch. 94

What do you mean, "but the temp gauge still gos up then comes down"???

Up how far and down to what?

Does it go up and down constantly?
If so,^^^ bleed the coolant system.

When was the last time thermostat was changed? 94

When my gauge sensor went out it would go to 1/8 past cold at a stop light, then it would hit the C when I started driving again. Just kept going back and forth.

So is the car overheating you think? You should either get an automotive thermometer or just replace the sending unit for $14 since they do eventually go bad.

I don't think it's overheating my fan is on and it doesn't feel overly hot to the touch the valve cover u can pretty much keep your hand on but it's just nerve racking to see my temp shoot up

Where is the sending unit??

Would you KNOW if the car was overheating by opening the hood??? I can keep my hand on the valve cover and the radiator hoses they aren't really hot

If you can keep your hand on the rad hoses. it's a good bet your not overheating.

A thermo gun is the best way to be sure.

Also, if rad fan "cycles" turns on and off. it is a sign engine temp. is normal. 94
