Default help installing components in 98 civic sedan doors

picked up 4 alpine type-r speakers for my civic with a pdx-f4 amp the other day. we were installing it today and are having a hard time getting the new speaker wire into the door. any advice? i called my local stereo shop and they said to just tap into the factory speaker wire and that it will sound the same. i just dont feel comfortable using that teeny speaker wire with that much power. so how are you guys getting the speaker wire through the boot? thanks in advance.

Have you pulled the fender off? You will want to do this.

When I did mine, I did and it made doing the job so much easier.

Pull the boot off the car, and you'll see a small gap, then just get the wire to it, grab it and put it threw the boot. (not very easy, and will take some time)

DX or EX? Reason why I asked is if you have power windows/locks it will be a little harder to pull the wire into the door, and you may need to do some modification do it to allow the wire to pass threw.

I would not use the OEM wires.

Prob need to drill holes through the molex(the door plug) to run the wires.

^That's common. Those "buckets'' usually have to be removed.

i think im just going to order those q forms kick panels instead. then i dont have to cut up the door panels, drill into the molex plugs, take off the fenders, feed wire into the doors, ect. then when i sell the car i can just hook up crappy speakers in the door and take my components and my amp out.

Q forms will work, a little pricey. It seems like a lot of work to make them fit in the doors, but its worth it IMO. Im going through the same thing with a set of RE comps. Going to drill through the molex, run new wires, and make some fiberglass pods to give them the necessary clearance.
