cant remove arp bolts from new manley rods
how do i get these off so i can assemble this engine already lol. they seem to be on there pretty damn tight and wont break loss. any help would be great thanks.
nvm i just ran to the hardware store and bought a nice vise! should help alot lol. sorry to pestor, just trying to build this car myself.
i always slide a rubber hammer handle into it and lay it on a rug and loosen it with a long ratchet or small pry bar.
all the rods usually come tighter than needed

I wrap them in a shop rag, put em in a vise, get the bolts loose. Then take it out of the vise, smack each sides of the end cap with a rubber mallet and work the cap off the rod.
i got them with ease. i just couldnt keep it steady enough to break them lose, wrapped them in a shp towel and snugged in the vise.

I second that, we stretch all our rod bolts too. Odd its one of my fav tools, that and the tapered bore ring compressors. 2 finger piston installs..
Obviously what you guys have done will work and I've done rods the ways you described in the past, but I invested a bit of money into a couple tools to make this process easier, safer and cleaner. A soft aluminum rod vise and a rod cap spreader are nice tools to have and can just be used in conjunction with your regular vise and stored when not in use. I went for the Proform versions of each which are really nice quality for the price you’ll pay. If you build engines on a normal basis or just like having trick tools for the job these are really nice to have
