Default What am I doing wrong? (timeslip inside)

So I went to the track for the first time, and heres my slip

Reaction - 1.080
60 foot - 2.512
Mid mph - 650.74 (errr wtf)
660 - 0.001 (??)
MPH - 88.75
ET - 15.856

This is a 1998 civic coupe, b16 swap. I/H/E, type r cams, type r short shift, power steering delete, p28 ecu, chrome chip + tune, redline at 9,256 rpms

I feel my time should be faster.....? I launched at 6000rpms, spun all of first and most of 2nd gear

In the 8th mile I lost to a type r swapped ej6 by a fender at most, and was faster than a 93ish prelude h22 from 0-120+ (high 14 cars no?)

This is full interior + 17inch rims(arent that heavy) with no name tires

anyone know what i should be running

i think your times are pretty good for a heavy car with just a stock b16 . I dont really think you can go much faster with what you have .

That's a pretty high redline, dynoed?
Better street tires if u don't wanna get slicks

play with launch rpm and throttle

i couldnt really tell you, only repeating what the previous owner told me. I bought the car like this about 3 weeks ago. car idles at 700ish(so i know the needle isnt off), rpm cluster ends at 8000 but the needle will keep going a long way's into the abyss

your 60 ft is horrible. work on the launch and you'll see low 15's. goodluck

60 foot is terrible, 17s don't help at all, and I highly doubt you are making power to 9200rpms.

My friends stock 1998 Civic Ex Coupe with just an intake went 16.0, so the car should be able to do better than a 15.8 lol

You dont need slicks. You need to learn how to drive. "I launched at 6000rpms, spun all of first and most of 2nd gear" .... you just explained your problem. Spinning = going nowhere. Walk it out in 1st gear like your leaving aggressively from a stop light with no wheel spin but not bogging, pre-load with ebrake at the launch. 4500-4800 for launch rpm, tires at 30psi....I laugh my *** off when i see these idiots spinning like crazy off the line. 2.0-2.1 60's are no problem on a street tire.

Go from 17's to a 15" wheel/tire combo and i bet youll see at least a 2-3mph increase in trap..

I know when i went from a 195/55/15 to a 205/45/16 and lost 1.5mph.. that was on a car that was dead consistent... changed to a 205/50/15 and it went back to what it was before... and nothing else changed

Good point. I too went to the track last nite. Have ej1 full interior, ls with ctr pistons, ls head, crane stage 1 cams, gsr tranny with obx diff, 205-50-15 bfg drag radials.
cut a .035 lite
60 ft. 2.0 or 2.1
14.68 et.
2 step for 5500 and one for 5000

Ahhh yea going vtec b16 head soon .
i really cant complain .
good luck

You're reving too high, which puts you past your shift point. ITR cams dont make much past 8300rpms.

Learn to launch, you'll need better tires/rims as everyone else has said.. i'd try to learn how to preload and feather first. Seems you're just dumbing the clutch and thats why your spinning.

yes i will admit i am new to launching. i just rev to 6000 and dump the clutch

today on a long empty street near my house i tried dumping the clutch at around 4500, and while it felt like it hooked very well, it was a good 1.5 secs until i got into vtec (it kicks it at about 5800 rpm).

is it a big deal if im not in vtec from the launch? or must i always stay in it

get better tires(15inch radials or some 22" slicks) and learn how to preload with the ebrake and launch.

Once you switch to a light set of 15" wheels and a decent set of tires you will realize how foolish 17" rims are on a B16 powered honda. It will be a night and day difference on the street and the track.

yep, thats a pretty normal time for a b16 with bolt ons. Slicks will put you in the 14s

My unstripped EG STD B16a2 S4C gearbox with a ported P30 manifold 68mm TB DTR headers went 14.8@94mph the other night with a 2.1 60' time we are using 15" no name tires,we shift at 8200rpm and launch at 3000rpm and still get bad wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear.

btw a bit random but does concrete change anything??

where i went originally is an old airport turned into a drag//circuit//drift trac, with the runway being the 1/4 mile

tonight i am going to a proper//normal track. maybe less slippage?

yes, you will probably notice a bit more bite on the launch if the launch pad is prepped properly.
