help! speed issue, not as fast as use to be
summary: ok so im having speed issue's after my power steering line broke. after i got my car fixed my car was definitely slower. i also hear a faint sound that i dont believe was there before the incident. please help me figure out my problems and what steps i need to do to fix it.
So recently my car's power steering line broke. all i see out of my exhast and engine is smoke. i checked my power steering fluid and it was completely drained. so having to bring my car to my mechanic i had to run to an autoparts store and buy 4 honda power steering fluid. i filled up one bottle and started to drive towards my mechanic. it tooks me about 4 bottles and i ended up not having enough.
So eventually on the way to my mechanic i ran out of power steering fluid in my car and i was about 4 blocks away. As i was driving i noticed my car got really really slow and i heard a weird sound like something in my car is winding up. like a belt was winding up as i pressed on the gas.
at this point being my car gotten slow, it felt weird. on first gear i was speeding up, at high rpms (like 5 or 6 rpms) i could only go about 7-10 mph. then is shifted into 2nd and still at high rpms (4,5 or 6,) i was going about 10-15 mph. so i switched to 3rd gear. high rpms and was going no more then 25 mph. it felt like i was a gear behind, meaning when i was in 3rd gear i should of been on 2nd gear's speed. my car was accelerating slow on high rpms. the speed was compltely different.
so eventually i got to my mechanic and i didnt mention the speed problem, i really didnt think about it. so he ended up replacing the powersteering line and i got back my car.
when i first drove it i noticed it wasnt quite right. it wasnt as fast as it use to be. it wasnt super bad either but it was definitely off. my car isnt crazy fast or slow it is alright. its a stock b16 1.6L dohc vtec honda del sol 95. i asked my mechanic but there is a language barrier. he said he changed the power steering line and it wouldnt have anything to do with you speed. Im not sure what the problem is or where i should start.
well after test driving it for a little bit and feeling my car out. i drove home and parked it. i told my sister to drive it to feel it out. we started up the car and she started to drive. It felt a little better but still, its still a little slower then usual. there is also a sound difference. im not sure if this sound has always been there but i dont believe it has. besides all the normal sound my car makes the odd sound that i hear is a faint raspy sound. like paper is stuck in a pipe and the noise is flowing against it. so i hear a little raspy rattle sound i guess. hard to explain.
my guess is there is something cloged or blocking flow of somesort thats why i hear a sound and my speed isnt as fast as it use to be.
im a noob with cars so please help me out on what i should do, how to fix my problem, and possible explanations of what could be wrong with my car. if you use big words or car words please make it easy for a noob to understand.
thanks
