My ball joint snapped. Scary feeling.
Should I get new ball joints or go to odessey spindles and new ball joints?
I'm probably going to look at the other side as well.

new ball joint should be fine, make sure everything else is in good standing while you are at it...no better time to replace stuff than now

Definitely new ball joints as well as tie rods. Mine snapped the entire inner tie rod and spindle as well as the axle.

Well, be thankful you were in the parking lot and not on the interstate.......

What are the future plans for the car? If you are just staying stock, wouldn't bother with the Odyssey spindles.

Inspect everything on that side and the other, replace everything that is needed....not good to have chassis parts fail while driving.

Mine snapped while trying to get on the freeway. The weight shifted to the driver side and snapped. I was very surprised that the spindle broke clean thru. No warning whatsoever.

Yeah i'm glad it was a parking lot not the highway. Future plans lower it with f&f, new bushings, maybe new swaybars, build the f22 with a h22 transmission, new tires and rims( still deciding), apexi muffler with 2.25 exhaust.

Definitely a new ball joint and axle. My '95 Prizm LSi did the same and the axle came out too. Good thing it's cheap; 30.00 or so for a new axle with core. Lol.

Is this car new to you OP? When you got your car inspected didn't the shop inform you of ball joint looseness.

Years ago when I had bought an a accord new to me I was warned by the mechanic checking the suspension that I had a bad ball joint

I don't mean to jack this thread.. But my GF was readin over my shoulder while I was readin this thread n she got scared... Cuz when I go over bumpers with my 96 accord. Theres clunkin noise in the front end somewhere. So she was like OMG I hope that doesn't happen to us with the kids in the car!!!

Anyways, how would I go about checkin to see if my ball joints r good or not?

Thanx

To my knowledge, get the car in the air and rock the tire back and forth. If you see play, it may be bad. This is what my mechanic used to inspect mine. My ball joint gave out without warning. If possible, try to replace both at the same time.

Under the jack point? OR Under the control arm?

At the conrol arm.

Suspend your tires in the air use a crowbar to move the tire in a vertical angle, have someone use their hand to feel for any movement.

Your mechanic was either careless in his inspection or incompetent.

I've had shops just give out inspection stickers without inspecting the suspension.
