96 LX manual - Clutch is stuck halfway down, won't shift
Hey folks,
So, I just started having some issues with my '96 LX manual, which I'm assuming could be related to transmission fluid. Today I was driving to work in heavy traffic when the car started to not shift fluidly into gear, up or down. It took a bit of forcing and after a few more stops (thankfully off the highway), I could no longer get it into any gear at all. The clutch is stuck, depressed about half way and not even at all with the other pedals. I eventually had the force the car into second gear in order to limp it to work, during which, it would die everytime I came to a stop and I could smell the clutch burning-up. Now, it's parked at my job and waiting to be towed somewhere.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I'm thinking it might have been leaking tranny fluid, however, I didn't see any in our parking spot.
This is the second time this car has had issues (tranny was replaced about two years ago. I know they put in a used tranny that didn't work from the start, yet they did nothing to actually remedy the problem, no matter how many times I took it in. So much for a warranty.) and it's absolutely frustrating.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you

Can you push the clutch the rest of the way? Is the clutch out of adjustment? Could the clutch be bad, you said the tranny was replaced, but not the clutch.
Yes, I can push the clutch the rest of the way. As for being out of adjustment, I'm not sure. If I put my foot behind the clutch and tap it, it'll pop all the way into the position it's supposed to be in, but as soon as I touch it to push it down, it pops back into that halfway position before I can push it all the way to the floor.
The car seems like I'm not pushing the clutch in all the way when I want to shift or stop or whatever, given that it dies and won't let me shift in or out of gear while it's running.

Check MC fluid level, look under dash drivers side for evidence of anything leaking, then check slave cyl look for fresh brake fluid..
