Figured Id post in here to get a bit more views and opinions.

Ive had aem on my b16 turbo civic since the beginning of april. I had issues burning up ICMs after driving 2.5hrs straight. Killed one on the way to and from the beach. Coil dwell on the ems is set at the honda default setting 40. I took it down to 35 just as a precaution.

I did a little digging and found that adding a digital ignition box takes the stress off the icm and I figured id give it a try. I did the external coil as well because I got everything for free pretty much. It runs fine, does feel a little smoother, however on cold start it cranks way too long. It took 3-4 tries to get it started. I have put the coil dwell back to 40 but wonder if it needs to be higher? thanks for any help

 

Check your stat sync while this issue occurs along with other ignition component logs.
I have a feeling you simply need to tune your engine start tables :-)

 

i talked with a friend and he said the same thing. i just found it weird it happened only after the ignition stuff. thanks!
