I have a 02 civic 4 door auto that will not go over 2000 rpm and will not go faster then 20mph. It has a check engine light but for some reason it cant be read out. I have tried over 5 different scanners but they all say error.

 

It sounds as if your ECU is dead.

 

are there any test i can do to check it other then plugin in a different ecu

 

Nope, see if you can find someone with another similar car that might let you borrow one for short period of time....if not buy one from a salvage yard or Ebay

 

If you swap ECU's, make sure you get the key, too. If the key and ECU don't match, you'll need a dealership to reflash the ECU so that the immobilizer doesn't prevent the car from running.


You can troubleshoot the circuits at the ECU, but if you haven't done it before, I don't recommend diving into it.
