Thinking I may need a re-tune
I picked up a JDM GSR off a buddy of mine. The ecu that was provided with the whole swap had a tune, not a basemap, on it from SpeedFactory. The tune was on a basic stock motor other than I/H/E and on the stock "snail" intake mani. Before I put the motor in I got rid of the piece of **** and put on a gen1 Skunk2 intake mani. Now since the motor has been put in, it's been kind of sluggish untill about 6k rpm or so. I'm going to be changing my plugs/wires/cap/rotor to see if that will help, but I'm thinking it needs a re-tune. Can any of you guys confirm my suspicions or lead me in the path of getting my motor running better?
Also, my car seems like it's running pretty rich. Definitally not getting the MPG I should be getting. Around 260miles on a full tank of gas in my 91 civic.

The problem is that you switched to the SKunk2 manifold from the stock GSR manifold. They flow VERY differently in the mid-rpm range and thus the reason it now feels sluggish. I'd actually recommend using the stock GSR manifold until you have some headwork and cams. You will actually see MORE midrange power with the stock manifold on stock cams.

1. Check your distributor timing to make sure it is set at 16-18 degrees (stock).
2. Make sure you have the correct plug plugged into your intake air temperature sensor (usually red/green wires). Also make sure your intake air temperature sensor tip isn't damaged.
3. Buy a basemap chip for the sk2 intake manifold: http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...emap-p-60.html
You should yield better results.
Getting a re-tune isn't much of a hassle. But with the things that you guys have told me to look, I will check those things first. Get my basic tune up done and go from there. What plugs would you guys recommend running and what gap?
