Door locking and unlocking problem
I bought an EK that has been converted to automatic locks and power windows. The problem is that the power locks will not work on the passenger door when it is closed. But when I open the passenger door and play with the locks, it works. Why does it only work when the door is open?!
Not sure where to put this thread so Mods move it to the appropriate place.

Mine was doing that same sort of thing, here's how I fixed it:
I took off the door panel, put some thin lube on the actuator itself, and then used the remote to make sure it locked and unlocked every time. Then I greased all the metal to metal contacts in the linkage that leads to the actual door lock. Then I cut out the wire going from the dash to the door and replaced it.
Works every time now. Yours sounds like it's probably just the wire though. I got kind of lucky with mine, in that whoever installed it got lazy and did not run the wire through the rubber wire holder thingy, so it was just hanging out in the open for me to cut and re-solder (or unlucky - it probably would have kept working had the wire been properly routed). The wire is probably frayed or worn from the door opening so many times.
Be careful with the door panel, mine was really brittle and ended up cracking in a few places from not much pressure trying to reinstall it...
At least yours just plain doesn't work, mine was working about 50 % of the time, so I never knew when it would unlock and when it wouldn't!
