There's an extra fuse and some little control box for the lights near the steering rack in the engine bay. Something along those lines anyways.

Relay that keeps the high beams lit at a lower intensity whenever the car is on. Pretty stupid since I don't need the car telling me when I should have my lights on or off.

But for the majority of driver's out there, it's a good idea.

I like DRL's.

I would be interested in converting my car over to have DRL's.

DRL is a good idea for the bad drivers. Let everyone know a bad driver is coming and be careful.

hm.. i was reading the helms manual thingie.. it has lots of stuff about daytime running lights.. there's a "daytime running light control unit" that looks like it has a two wire harness connection plugs.. there is also a DRL resistor with a 3p connector.. it seems the fuses and these two things control the daytime running lights..

basically when u turn on ur car.. ur headlights turn on.. my car isn't a canadian model so i can't help u out more than that.. i hope it kinda answers ur question

i think its a great way to make people buy more bulbs.. but i guess safety first..

my teggie is CDN spec

unfortunately that also includes rock chips on the entire front end.

anyways, when you turn the car on, the lights dont turn on until you put it into gear.

when you release the parking brake after turning your car the lights turn on
for what its worth my car is 12 years old and the DRL's are still original... the car doesnt get driven much but still

and it is a useful safety feature imo
although when you expect every car to have DRL's you sometimes dont notice (old) cars without them as easily

dawg~ the purpose of it, is not telling ppl your car is on or off..
it's coz up in the north.. snows a lot plus foggy and crappy weathers.. so CDM require the daytime running lights for all teh cars.. to insure eveyone is safe and it's visible to see each other on the road even during bad storm weather..

The daytime running lights help when your passing on a single lane road also. You can see their lights from a far distance. Also in the rain, snow, fog. It all helps see the cars on the road.

They are a good idea, but in some ways they're not. The problem is people don't turn on their lights anymore when it is foggy or other low visibility situations. It really pisses me off because the back of the car is not visible at all. I think they should make the tail lights light up as well.
They don't cause bulbs to burn out at all. It is almost always the low beam that burns out first.

DRL are not just for bad drivers. They make it a whole lot easier see on the highway which mean even good drivers can better judge the distance between them and the other car. I am an excellant driver (never had and accident or ticket) and I find it much better to drive when EVERYONE has DRL's.

I would say you drive like a ***** taht's why. who cares if you are a good driver, or bad driver.

First off, I don't speak ghetto ebonics, so don't call me "dawg." It makes you sound uneducated.

I understand that the weather up there sucks. Turn the lights on. I'd be a happy Canadian with a non DRL equipped car. Actually, I wouldn't be a happy Canadian period.

If there is inclement weather, I know to turn my lights on. Under certain circumstances, I'd rather have them off. Many driver's forget to turn on their headlights during dusktime because the DRL's are already casting a small amount of light ahead of them. Unfortunately, their parking and taillights remain off.

Like I said, for people that don't know when to turn their lights on or off.

HEY I KNOW! Let's invent a car with windshield wipers and horn constantly on. Safety feature!

Way to prove your point sport. So DRL's are good because you're Canadian?

Us hicks, rednecks, yankees, whatever you want to call us "dumb Texans", suprise...have cars equipped with DRL's also. And I hate em...because of said reason. I'm saying that for me they suck. If you love them, good for you. I just don't appreciate having regulations on my car. I turn them on when I feel appropriate.

Canadians aren't used to having that much freedom being subjects instead of citizens.

It's good to see you try and step up and stop this bs but you are the one is causing most of it. Calling me a ***** driver because I haven't had an accident or tickets !!! You have no idea who I am or how I drive. I'm sure lots of people will agree, getting into an accident or a ticket for driving way over the speed limit, is NOT a trophy. I drive my car hard every day, however, I choose when and where are appropriate times to do so (which I think makes me a good and smart driver).
