Still looking around for a trust worthy shop with a good reputation...preferably towards the I.E.

 

I just bought my D15B swap from there a week ago and I have no complaints. Its a small shop and i'm not sure how there work is seeings as I did the swap myself, but there motors are exactly what they advertise if that says anything about them.

damn, i wonder if anyone else has done business with them, been looking into them as well lately but to skeptical about it.... HMO seems fine for now but def would be nice to know somewhere else to go

I'm doing a JDM H23 swap in my brothers 94 4th gen lude. They charged me a reasonable price including labor. I am picking it up tomorrow so, ill keep you guys posted.

I called them a few months ago when I needed a d16y8 for my 98. Over the phone they presented themselves very professionally. I got no bad vibes about this place. They have a blog with car's they've done with videos as well so that should be a good indication this place has nothing to hide. So I'd give them a try if I needed to but to be honest with ya. If you're looking for some Excellent work at damn LOW/DECENT prices call WRENCH-PRO ask for Duc or Cesar I've had 2 Y8 swaps done by them. I was buying these motors from people and dismantlers. They always recommended my D15B vtec's and JDM B20's with Very good pricing. These guys work fast and their work and attention to making everything work right is above average in my opinion.

Yes....I'm bringing this back from the dead.
I've purchased my d15b from them, Cool people, and the motor seemed legit, oem parts w/ factory paint marking on some hardware, and the internals were bearly stained by the oil!

BUT!!!
I got the motor started over the weekend, and its burning oil(blue smoke) And a compression test showed 130psi on all but cylinder #4(got 100) added oil and was bumped up to 135psi.... WTF
I dont blame "Gold Autos", but lets see what they do w/ their "warrenty" policy since I'm well withing my 90 day warrenty from issues Including Smoking!

I tried calling last week because i was ready to buy my jdm d15b and never picked up called from tuesday to friday 10am to 7pm. i called hmotorsonline picked up within 3 rings they don't have the motor but think it'll be on backorder should of just went to HMO first

I'm going to stop by their shop, if they won't answer.

I too was going to go with Hmotors but like you, their was a 2/3 week backorder and I need my DD running asap. Plus Ive read of others buying from them with no prob. So I gave them a shot.
After all...all shops derserve a chance,consider this a public service (at my expense unfortunetly). who knows, maybe their customer service will be excellent and resolve my problem asap. I'm sure that how HMO started.
I'll give a full report when all is said and done.

 

Yeah I just found out about the backorder now I'm thinking Goldautos or this local shop in San Bernardino called Rspec Autotek

 

Have you called the shop yet? 909-877-3006. We have a couple of d15b vtecs left till end of this month/ beginning of next so don't wait.

 

Sorry about that eg guy. Our phone rings ALL DAY LONG so if you can, just wait a few minutes and call back.

One thing you have to remember is that in addition to selling jdm motors, we also do motor builds, swaps, installs, dyno tuning, jdm front end installs and custom turbo kit builds and installs.

If we only sold motors like most other importers, we could rush people off the phone in 10 seconds but we average 5-15 mins a customer explaining what they need to do to make 300whp on pump gas reliably or how to put an h23 vtec in this car or this motor in that car.

Call these other places... Most places can't / won't even tell you how to wire up their motors (ie 3 stage vtec). See how quickly you get rushed off the phone if you ask one question. Some importers even use our schematics and printouts for our customers.

Comparing Gold Autos to hmotors is comparing apples to oranges.

Well, I stopped by the shop this morning..(by the way...yeah, that phone was ringing every few minutes.) Spoke with Chris, and will be reserving a replacement d15b for me when they come in. Also, he worked with me since I reused alot of my z6 parts and painted ALOT of those parts.... G.A is turning to be a good local shop.

Also spoke with some customers that were gettting work done by G.A, and had nothing but good things to say....If the new d15b turns out to be solid I might comeback for some boost!

 

how much was the d15b, and this should smog with the z6 intake and everything hooked up?
