KAIZENSPEED / KStuned 8.89 video
IFO Woodburn was an eventful day for the KAIZENSPEED crew! Thanks to all my crew and my boys Andy, Todd, Scott, Edgar, Javier, Shawn and Nick at the shop. We started the day with a personal best of 8.89 at 166 mph off the trailer. What we thought was ignition breakup appears to be the tach reading 1,000 RPM low. Thinking it was ignition breakup I tried to drive through it but it was actually the limiter so the mph was down a bit.
In the first round of eliminations we chucked the alternator belt in the burnout and went down the track with less than 12 volts causing us to be way down in fuel pressure. We managed a 9.15 at 158 mph at 12 volts and a lean AFR!
After trying to find an alternator belt with no luck it was time for second round eliminations. We started the pass at 11 volts and by mid track it was 10.5 volts and the car was spitting and bucking as the fuel pump and ignition system struggled to get me down the track. I was forced to coast from mid-track and managed a 10.5 at 97 mph and the move to the final round.
For the final round eliminations we tried still to find a belt with no luck. So we hooked our jump box to the battery and put it in the back of the car. That gave us almost 12 volts to get down the track. At the line the clutch was dragging, trying to pull the car through the lights and it bogged at the line and Jeff got the jump. I banged the launch limiter, got off the clutch and we were off. The car missed quite a bit but by the 1000 ft mark we were side by side. We managed to get past him in the last few hundred feet with a 10.15 at 159 mph.

I'm no veteran racer. I can't have a spare for everything, but I'll have a spare belt in the trailer from now on.
This is how you learn.
For everyone who let me steal their alt belt off their cars to try; thank you! None fit, but I appreciate all the help.

Also want to thank Jeff. He knew we were still getting the car back together when they called final round. He stalled getting back to the staging lane to give us alittle more time. Thanks.

can't wait to see what she does when you turn her up!
