is it cheaper at majestic or the dealer?
as the poor college student that i am, i came across some money to finally put into fixing some car problems (so monies tight).
while doing some home work for a few gaskets, i've come to a fork in the road with who i'm gonna buy the gaskets from
the 3 gaskets for my z6 are:
91214-PLE-003 - rear main seal
30110-PA1-732 - distributor o-ring seal
30132-PT2-006 - distributor cap seal
the problem that comes up is with the price
HAP prices for the 3 seals come in at 14.16 BUT they tack on 13$ for shipping and handling, didnt even mention tax yet
HAP then lists the list price (which i'm guessing is what the dealer charges) at a total 21$ and tax in illinois is 11% so rougly ~ 23$
so from my understanding, buying it from the dealer is the better, cheaper choice. just want to ask you guys if i am missing something in this whole ordeal?
thanks to all that reply.

You save money at Majestic by buying many parts or expensive parts, not a few inexpensive parts. In this case, the better deal is to buy from your local Honda dealer.
Im pretty sure u only pay tax if u live in the same state as from who u are buying something from.....so from majestic u would be tax free. at least I was and I live in tenn

I get a discount at my local dealer. They have me in the system so when I buy a part they automatically give me a price break. Try to get the same clerk each time you visit the parts counter.
Any ever tried http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/ ? The good thing about them is that you can get Honda and Acura parts all in one setting. A few weeks ago, I bought some parts for my coupe and they didn't even charge me a dime for shipping/handling. Freakin awesome if you ask me.
well the honda parts dealership by my is also a rip off, $356.00 for an ignition kit w/ matching key cylinders for doors & trunk, i paid $132.00 from majestic honda.... so i think it all depends on the dealerships in your area
