Rs machine piston on gsr rod?
Hey ht I have a build in process , I have a gsr block at the machine shop that I just purchased
The story behind the block is the piston in cyclinder 4 chipped off , when I got the block I took the crankshaft , pistons out and the oil squiters in cyclinders 1,4 were broke off into the oil pan... Took the flywheel to get resurfaced , crankshaft to get polished , and block to get looked over and cleaned
The results of the block were that cyclinder 4 is fine but 2,3 are warped. I thought 1,4 would have the damage but ohwell, also the block needs to be decked.
So my plans are to bore out to 82.00 , with rsmachine itr pistons so heres where my questions come in
.Should I take the old pistons off the rods, and put the itr pistons on the gsr rods?
.Or should I just get forged rods? (ive searched but havent found much info on forged pistons on cast rods )
.since im going to do a bore do I still need the oil squirters?
The plan for this build is a Allmotor gsr with power hopes of 200+, BUT This is my first build , im trying to do it right tho so its not timed, I just need this help so I could move forward

For the record...oem gsr rods are forged and rs machine pistons are cast. I figure you just got mixed up in your original post but I still wanted to mention something.
No I didn't kno actually I mean I guess when I was researching I mustve missed it .. But I didnt kno abiut gsr rods ether I mean since there oem I firgured they were cast
What may be cheaper is going with a B20 block (if you can find a good deal on one), buy some 84mm bore pistons and build a 2 liter motor.
btw yeah those pistons should be fine on stock GSR rods

Na I got my gsr on a good deal .. The whole block , (pumps, oil pan ect) valve cover, motor mounts, clutch .. I couldve did lsv since I already have it in my car but I really wana do a built gsr ...
What about the squirters?
What about the squirters?
Oil squirters are kind of personal preference. With your setup you could keep them and not worry about it, but many people like to block them off to raise the oil pressure to the bearings and head because getting oil to the bearings is considered more important than oil squiriting the bottom of the piston.
I left them on my dads semi-build gsr and we still had above 80psi at the block and 90psi at the check port in the head when vtec was set to engage around 5200rpm. So its really up to you.
Oh and on a different note. I believe RS Machine makes two styles of pistons. One with a full floating wrist pin(like a forged piston that uses snap rings for the wrist pin) that can be used on an eagle rod or the like. They also make an oem style pressed fit wrist pin style where the rod needs to be heated for the wrist pin to be popped in. That would be the style you want if you plan to use oem gsr rods.

Thanks I appericate all the input , I think ima go with blocking it off .. Imo ill rather have more oil to the bearings.. Is there any diy on here ? Or does my machine shop have to do it ?
