Wordering if anyone has had a similar problem/knows what it might be. My motor makes a tapping noise that is very noticeable from 2000rpms till 3500rpms, then the motor gets to loud to really hear the tapping anymore. Car runs great, just has this annoying noise. Did a valvelash adjustment thinking it was that, but it didn't take care of the problem. Put a stethoscope all over the motor, and the noise is most noticeable in the drivers side runner on the intake manifold, near the IAT sensor. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

 

Also, it's a high pitched tapping, so I'm ruling out knock, especially since it isn't coming from the block

Piston slap, worn rocker assy, noisy injector are possibilities.

Turn the radio up.

 

Sweet. Checked again with the stethoscope, found one of my injectors sounding different than the rest. Hoping that is the problem. Thanks strategy!

 

Now I just gotta find someone with an extra 310 laying around that I can borrow to see if it eliminates the problem ha ha!
