Honda overheated now what?
Ok so i accidently left my car running and the cars temperature went through the roof and a heard a slight valve tick. turned the car off and let cool down then put one bottle of water in it and drove to get fluid. The fluid was never down and I saw no leeks anywhere... Checked the oil and no discoloration on the dipstick from a typical blown headgasket. Checking everything tomorrow and I mean everything! Can i overheat my car and it still be ok? The tick i never heard after the car was shut off the first time? Do I just need to seat my valves? Whats all the things I need to check? Its a D15B non vtec with a MPFI swap.
Ok so just the thermostat... Would there be any other damage to the car from it overheating like that... Not really alot of steam or anything
^^ the two common things that "may" show up right away or soon depending on how hot it got, is a slightly warped head......could show with a sweat from a leaky head gasket.....and/or could have damaged the valves seals which which will show in your oil consumption
Hopefully, you won't have to deal with them

Ok so for now this is what I did for anyone who uses the search engine... I replaced the old thermostat with a newer one and my coolant levels went from 1 quarter down to 1/8 the guage. This was probably the problem. Oh and I also replaced the transmission with a 5 speed si tranny and that makes a world of difference.
