Transmission: shifter wont shift toward left or go in 1st or 2nd. HELP!!
I was driving home today from work, went to downshift and the shifter would not even budge to the left. I came to the stop light and it would still not even budge, I ended up driving home starting in 3rd gear from every stoplight. A little background on the car, I just converted my new car to manual, 1995 Civic Ex with ls and gsr trans. I have had this trans for a year prior in my old car and has never given me trouble I have never had any problems with this trans, same with the clutch and all the sudden it does this. At first I thought it could be the linkage, so I took the linkage off and tried to shift into 1st and 2nd manually and no go. Ive now narrowed it down to something internal with the trans (god I hope not), clutch issue, or throwout bearing. Money is a serious concern right now, so I cant afford to just throw parts at it till something works. Any help is greatly appreciated.
If it will not shift at the trans with the linkage disconnected, it is an internal problem. It sounds like a bent interlock in the shift hold assembly.
Wont shift with car off either, goes in all other gears fine. Im thinking the 1-2 shift fork is bent or something along those lines.
