Default throttle body and TPS questions

hey guys...my tps sensor recently went out and i was wondering what the factory intake manifold bore size was for throttle bodys was? the reason i'm asking is cause i was thinking about upgrading to a 68mm.

THEN on the other hand..i really don't mind the factory performance and the gains of a bigger throttle body are going to be minimal with my current mods. so is it possible to just drill out the factory TPS and re-tap it to fit in a b series tps from blox or some other company?

i've tried doing some searches but all i keep coming up with is factory throttle body sizes for b16, and gsr and nothing about using an aftermarket tps with a factory throttle body.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

Take off the the throttle body. The tps sensor should have like rivets to hold it in. Take a dremel or something like it and cut a notch on threw the rivets and it should just unscrew with a flat head.

The OEM TB is 62mm though I'm not sure that it's port matched to the IM. The 68mm TB isn't worth the money on a near stock engine IMO, and yes, you can replace the TPS as described above.

Don't forget to calibrate it before final tightening!

yeah i knew the 68mm would be almost pointless for what my setup is now but the way i kinda look at things is that when it breaks it's time to upgrade lol...but i live in the real world and it just doesn't make sense right now to do it right now financially.

this is also my first time dealing with any tps issues though...how exactly do you calibrate the tps???

get a multimeter. put positive on the middle wire of tps and negative to ground. you should read .5 closed throttle and 4.5 open throttle. keep adjusting till you get it right and tighten

lol my explanations suck though

I think the bolts are m5x.8 but don't hold me to it.

they're not too bad if someone tries to make sense of it lol

but when you say adjust you're talking about adjusting the idle screw right? or the tps itself?

***also ordered a new tps today...hopefully it'll be here sometime this coming week.***

DO NOT TOUCH THE IDLE ADJUSTMENT SCREW

Swivel the throttle position sensor itself until you get the correct readings. Tighten, check voltage again, then adjust once more because you're bound to mess it up at least once. Backprobing the wires is difficult to do without assistance from a needle or maybe even a datalogging tool. Search this forum for "tps adjust" and you're bound to get dozens of hits
