Pic of ECT sensor that goes to temp guage?
I have a b16a 88 crx hf and my temp guage just stopped working.
It was slightly acting up before it stopped working, It would take a while to show that the car was warm even after driving for a while and then sometimes slowly fall. Now thats its not working sometimes it will shoot all the way up to hot and sometimes just wiggle around everywhere. this makes me think it might just be bad wiring?
I've replaced the sensor near the distributor That i think is the one that sends info the to ECU.
The ECT behind the block is fine as of now.
My question is where is the sensor that sends info to the gauge? Ive done hours of research today and only could find semi bad directions where its at. People say its another one located near the distributor? if anyone could upload a new pic or something that would be awesome.
Ive looked on google for hours and searched almost every type of keywords I could along the lines to try and get different info and just cant find it.
Its the single wire thats green and yellow? IS it the wire that connects together through a clip that looks like 2 wires are supposed to go throught it but only one wire goes through it? and if it is this wire then i can just follow the wire to the sensor which is near the top of the engine?
and the sensor is cylinder shaped? I;d take a pic and upload it but its dark out.

I replaced the one below the green, The grey one with the gold nut.
Which one is the sending unit? the shiny silver thing at the top?

If your talking on a b16, the one that sends info to the temp guage is kinda hard to find its tucked away below the distributor hidden by the radiator hoses. Took me forever to find it but I found it this morning and the wire had broken out of the connector so i fixed it up. temp guage works fine now. W00t!

i would guess that either the gauge is failing/has failed, or there is a short somewhere between the gauge and sending unit. i imagine you could do a continuity check between the wire at the gauge and the wire in the engine bay at the sending unit, but i don't know for sure if that's how it's wired exactly.
just looked at the schematic and it appears its just one wire that runs from the ground at the gauge to the sensor on the engine. So either there is a break in that wire, or you don't have power to the gauge. do a continuity check with a multimeter to see if there is in fact a break or not in the ground wire.
