Hello everyone. I have the 96 Accord 4cyl. The other day as I was driving down the road it started to slightly jerk. I notice it the most when steadily going about 45-50 mph. It can also be noticed when slowly giving it gas in park. The car will still get up and go like it always has. No weird noises or anything just the slight jerk at different speeds. My guy that usually does my mechanic work said it's probably a sensor, but he doesn't have his code reader right now. Any insight?
Sounds like a miss. Possibly a faulty spark plug wire, or spark plug. Pull the wires, check resistance on each one, do it both when cold and hot. Pull the spark plugs and check for a fouled or damaged one.
I had the same problem with my 93 Accord. The RPMs were bouncing up and down as well so I changed the VSS and there was a slight improvement. After that I took the intake manifold off and all of the EGR ports were pretty blocked up. Once everything was cleaned out the problem was completely gone.

pretty sure its not the plugs and wires, i just changed them a few weeks ago. I just went out to make sure everything was still snug and it was, and i'm positive i gauged them correctly. I took off one of the wires and cranked the car and it acts way worse than what the actual problem is.
Check the resistance of the spark plug wires, check the spark plugs, rule them out.
Look at rpm's....if this "miss" is around 1800~2100 rpm's and only once it is warmed up...I'll go with EGR ports....
Is the CEL on, I noticed you haven't had the codes read.

Yes it is an automatic, and the check engine light is on. It has been on for a few months. Had someone run a test on it a while back and it said an O2 sensor was bad, so I replaced both of them. Then I replaced the plugs and wires and it ran perfect for three weeks. The problem did not persist over time, it came out of the blue one day. I inspected the plugs and wires yesterday and everything was fine.
Likely caused by plugged EGR ports. Open the EGR valve at idle. The engine should stall. If it doesn't the EGR ports are likely plugged.
On a side note, EGR will open naturally if you gently tip into the throttle while in park due to the very light engine load.

Just throwing ideas out there...Start with the easy stuff such as taking the spark plugs out, showing them a good time, and replace them if necessary.
Take your distributor cap off and see if we have oil in there.

I have some stalling and do have a leak in the distributor on 2000 accord SE
Sounds a lot like my issue, here's my thread:

I have been running with a block off plate under the EGR valve, car will throw a p0401 code (EGR insufficient flow) when I start up, which I clear while driving (I keep my OBD II reader in the car) and doesn't reappear until I shut the car off and it cools down. It is running so much better now, gas mileage is up, no bucking/ hesitating. I received all the gaskets required from Majestic last week and will be fixing the problem properly this weekend.
