s300 syncing time doesnt seem to be right
when i go to disable compensations to put my distributor in time with the computer. first i always thought base timing was 16 degrees not 17 like s300 says and shouldnt my distributor be someone close to the middle? when i put the timing gun on it. i have to turn the distributor almost all the way towards the fire wall to have the light flash in the middle mark on the crank pulley. thanks
You can sync the timing to 16 or 18 degrees it doesn't really matter as long as you lock the timing to x value and shoot the distributor timing to x value.
If you are running aftermarket cam gears & your cam timing is not at top dead center you may have to advance the distributor a lot to get 16-18 degrees btdc.
If you are running an aftermarket autozone or napa distributor, get rid of it.
