Happy ten year anniversary
Ok guys..took delivery of 00-0159 on 24th May 2001 @ 6:17pm in Syracuse NY.
TEN YEARS TODAY.
Met lots of great folks as a result and learned a lot.
Glad to say that it LOOKS, DRIVES AND WORKS JUST AS GOOD NOW as it did then…toddler seat and grocery bags and all.
Happy ten year anniversary to 00-0159 PY 2000 ITR!

Babyseat in the R FTW!
When our daughter was young I was pulled over for being in the carpool lane. The look on the CHP's office was priceless when he got up to the car and saw the kid in the backset

When my son was born, we had not yet bought the family SUV so the very first car he EVER rode in (at the senior age of 2 DAYS) was the R! (And I thought it was supposed to be a hard core track car).
Thanks for the well wishes guys! I Have LOTS of pics but will try to post some later (if I ever figure out how).

Thanks again..
The right door lock solenoid mysteriously started to intermittently malfunction about 4 years ago for about 3 months. After 3 months it just fixed itself. Been working 4 years with no problems.
I drove into a carwash 2 years ago and forgot to retract the rear antenna. The washer brush broke it. I had to replace it and had no issues since.
I also noticed when the weather get EXTREMELY cold, the 'brake fluid low' light comes on (the float switch in the reservoir gets stuck in the down position). Toggling the cap seems to fix it (there never really was any issue with the brake fluid level itself). I now live in the south so I hasn't happened in years.
Had to replace the following non wear items over the years
:-one of the two bulbs in the high mounted brake light.
-exhaust header manifold due to small rust crack (I'm from NY so the salt may have caused that)
-rear stock axle brace (the one between the rear wheels) due to deformation over the years (I suppose road debris).
-Put a stock filter on 4 months ago after 9+ years of reliable performance from the comptech ( remember them?) re-usable performance filter I got with the "ice box" in 2002.
- both front shocks due to normal wear (so I guess that does not apply as non-wear)
Seriously I mean I never had ANY real issues with this car
. Been so reliable you almost want to drive it into a wall just to say something went wrong
.The best part was when I showed up at my mechanic's garage with STOCK HONDA replacement wiper blades, headlight bulbs and oil filter. He wanted to slap me silly
saying that I could have gotten after-market upgrades for the same price. I wasn't hearing it
genuine replacement does it for me
. (Those red disibutor upgraded harness wires was HIS doing
)
Thanks for your reply.
Wow i guess Honda reliablity does live up to its name, really need to get myself an R!
I had the same issue with the passenger side lock in my civic and it fixed it self aswell (Honda reliability has got that good, that the car just fixes itself
)

Guys again thanks so much. Your comments makes me even more proud for us all.
Yes..You are absolutely correct. Comptech axle back installed 2002 with the Comptech icebox and intake manifold seen in the engine bay pic (the only aftermarket items on this car). Been on there ever since. From the B pipe back to the engine is all stock. Went Comptech because they were warrantied by Acura at the time and was a very quiet upgrade. Wanted to do their lightweight flywheel (like the realtime team) but i barely got the car over the speed limit so I gave up on that dream
which was a good thing because the stock ORIGINAL clutch is still on there and feels like it did at day one
You got me there as well. The one thing that I wish the R did better. I've been on 5W 30 Mobil 1 from day one. I change oil EVERY 3500-4000 miles and between oil changes I'd have to put about 1/2 quart. So I guess you can say it burns about that much in between oil changes (99.8% non-vtec street driving). I never compared it to other R so that may be normal but the car has NEVER been tracked and there are periods of 6-8 months I don't even see vtec (the daycare is not far away
) so I think that may be a high oil consumption rate. Is it?
Just to educate my ignorant self, what is 'FEO'?
