Why couldn't you polish it? It's just a matter of sanding it down to an ultra fine grain.

Start with 500-800-1000-1200-1500-1800-2000 with a high speed sander and clean it up with some roush.

I think you're too concerned with bling rather than the safety of jackstands.

Isn't it a steel bar though? Iv'e seen some rusted sway bars. You would probably have to clear it after polishing. Good luck, I was once a polish ***** but I learned somethings are better left painted.

just curious, arent sway bars made of spring steel? any chance sanding on it would affect how it works? why not just paint it like a silver? nobody would know the difference and it wouldnt rust. just my .02

Metal is metal, it polishes like all other metal. It would likely rust, but nothing some occasional silicon spray can't ward off. You'd probably have to re-polish it every 3-4 months.

I don't know why you'd want the "polished" look for the sway bar, but you can strip the paint off, sand it down with fine sandpaper then send it to a plater to get it chrome plated (or, even better, nickel plated). It'll get the blingtastic result you're looking for.

...this reminds me of one customer in PR that had our arms plus brace polished and then plated in 24k gold (ewwww, but to each his own).
