Default one of a kind

Im not sure if anyone has done this but if someone hasnt then mine will be the only one. But what would you say if you seen a 93 eg hatch rolling around with a targo top. lol i know it sounds weird but i seen a hatch with a roof torn off an got to thinking about it. I know i got a big job ahead of me but i also have a professional welder for a best friend lol. let me know what you think of the idea.

You know what, I was going to ignore this but cant.

What's wrong with this thread? He just wants to do something custom and fabricated, and you have to come in here and call him a noob and make some smart *** comment? Your really cool bro. The dude is just enjoying cars like the rest of us, maybe whats cool in your eyes is stupid in his. No need to pollute this forum with non sense posts such as yours.

The only real issue to overcome with the idea that id see is it's unibody vehicle. You'll need to find out which parts or sections the body needs to still be structurally sound. Also you'll need to worry about adequete sealing. But, with ALOT of planning and for-thought I would think it could be done. Not at all cheaply or easily though.

thank you see these are the kind of guys that love cars they still understand where they came from unlike some of these other guys.

oh an we took the junk del sol we intend on cutting the roof of the hatch of another junked hatch an testing on it before we even think of doing it to mine lol. an so far it is turning out to be really cool a pain though cause once we cut the roof we realized that we had to reinforce the supports to the roof for safety so we cut the targo slots off the sol today we will see what tomorro brings i will post pics up soon.

Yes, deifnately weld in supports BEFORE cutting the roof. If for nothing else. Simply to keep everything square after that support is taken out. Take ALOT of cross measurements also before and after your cuts.

your gonna want to brace the inside of both cars cause the roof is under tension and can hurt you guys if it springs out, you gonna use the windshield pillars off the del sol ?

A targa top can't be any worse than these:

Bonus points if the pieces of the top have a storage compartment in the trunk, under a false floor even better.

Hey now, just because an aftermarket company chopped the roof off and weighed down the damn thing with reinforcements, God's Chariot can still never be called "ugly".

Besides, there are much worse convertible conversions out there:
