hittin inside wheel well
hey i dont know if this is in the right area and im sure its been asked before but im not really sure what to search for but ne ways
ive got a 96 accord coupe thats lowered and im having a problem with the car slamming when i go over bumps (larger bumps on the highway ect) now i cant seem to rember where i read it but i read that people where cutting out the inside of the wheel well to allow the upper control arm? room to fully move up and down but i was wondering if it would mess with anything and any how to do it any pictures ect. i hope that makes sense
thanks for the help

ive got tokico blues in the back in the front oem struts and its on some cheap coilovers which i know adds to the bumps im lookin at doing groundcontrols which is why i havent replaced the front struts yet because i have been told that the tokico blues where basically oem and that i should of gotten the adjustable tokicos and i also read about some konis? not sure if i have the spelling correct
but ne ways with the setup i have now oem struts front on no name coils and tokico blues in back same coils all around it rides ... ok .. but when i hit some serious bumps or some bumps on the highways (have to slow down to like 60 alot) it sounds like my car is banging onto the ground but i cant seem to find any scratches that would indicate this so i figured that my suspension was hitting the inside of the wheels
hope that helps
also i didnt install the springs myself which i wish i did cause i dont know if the guy removed the bump stops or cut them or anything and i cant get him on the phone to ask not sure what the bump stops even do to be honest just know that ive read alot of posts saying that it should be cut smaller

Hopefully you have learned a valuable lesson here: Don't cheap out on suspension components.
You would most likely not be having these problems (or at least they would be minor) if you had proper struts/shocks (the stockers and the blues are too soft for how much drop you have) and I'm sure the ride would be A LOT better with good springs/sleeves.
Raise the coilovers as much as you can (I know it'll look bad, but at least it won't ride as bad as it does) and get money together to either get a proper suspension setup or go back to stock. Don't go modifying things you might not really need to.
You said you were looking at Ground Controls, which is a good start. You can go with Koni Yellows (the favorite for GC's) or a few others like Tokico Illuminas. You just need to make sure to get the proper sleeve for the struts/shocks. There are quite a few vendors selling yellows with GC's right now for pretty decent prices, so I'd check those out.

ok well let me ask you this you seem to know what your talking about
so basically i want to do coilovers cause i like that i can fine tune the height pretty easily
ive always had just spings (eibach's prokit ) and just some moroe sensatracs for struts and they road like nothing was ever done now i understand that by going lower deff makes for a less than oem type ride but id like to figure out what the best option is to try to live in both worlds lowered and comfortable while being able to keep the adjust-ability that springs wouldnt give me
do you think that the eibachs ground control and the tokico whites or koni yellows would do the job?
also what you mean proper sleave how do i know the diffrence
any help would be great cause i did learn a lesson with the shitty setup and wanna do it right this time but this is my first honda ive had so i dont know which direction to go in on the setup
thanks

btw::
am i even looking at the proper setup theres so many companys like tein and d2 skun2 h&r ect. i just figured groundcontrols cause ebiach has been around forever and i was happy with there spring kit so they would be my best bet

I have Tokico Illuminas on my Accord and I like them, but I've yet to see a site that offers a Illumina/GC deal so it's probably easier to go with the Yellows. Besides, the Yellows are just as good, if not better.
When I say proper sleeve, I'm referring to the parts that make the Ground Controls adjustable. You'll notice that there are whole coilovers for sale, and then their are coilover sleeves mated with struts/shocks. GC's are considered coilover sleeves.
A lot of the cheaper sleeves (Like all those no-name ebay ones) have the potential to crack or break apart. Obviously, that's not good for handling... or good for the people riding in the car.
I like Tein, but any worthwhile coilovers they have are big bucks, or at least more than the GC/Koni setup. I think Skunk2 makes some decent parts, but their coilovers are not anything special.

If you've had no problems though, I would defer to your judgment on them.
