Default Jump starter reco.

Hello,
I own a Honda accord EX v6 (2000). Last week I had to jump start my car by calling a mechanic at home. Now I am thinking of getting a jump starter but I am wondering now what rating should the jump starter be for honda accrd ex V6.

Is 400 Peak amp > Schumacher XP400 Jump Starter good ? or it will need to be 750A or 900A capacity. I know higher the peak rating better it will be, but what will be good enough is my Qn.

If you have any recommendation for particular model, let me know. Thank you.

Any standard jump pack will do. I just purchased a Stanley one at Samsclub for 50 bucks that has an air compressor, a USB charge port, and a light. I think it's rated at something like 450? These Hondas don't draw a tremendous amount of current when using the starter.

In all honesty, if you have a new battery and your charging system is working properly, you will have no need to spend money on a jump starter.

Hi Again,

I got a battery jump starter unit. It works. However as pointed above, something may be dead or dying , I will definitely have the car checked.

I suppose it is the battery (the first mechanic from Carx also talked on similar lines) that is dying. In that case, what rating and vendor of battery you recommend me to buy for this car? I saw some brands in Walmart - MAxx or interstate or something. But any advice from experienced people is always beneficial.

Thank you again!

EDIT. Thought I must add some details, this car has a sony AM/FM/CD player. a 12v DC adapter that powers a garmin street pilot GPS and a radar controller both via USB. Vehicle is mostly driven in Chicago and suburbs if CCa rating matters much for this place..

500 CCA ( Cold Cranking Amps ) or greater will do you just fine. Most retailers will have reference data matching the appropriate battery to your vehicle.

Well good thing you got the jump starter!

Like i said before, check your charging/battery system before you throw another brand new battery in there and kill that one too. Good luck!

You have advance auto in Chitown right?

Just google "advance auto coupon code" and you can get 40% off an online order.. Just pick the battery (autocraft gold is a very good choice) in store and they will install it for free..
That way you have an easily accessible warranty if you ever need anything

@nicolaselias

Sorry about the delay in writing but I didn't delay getting the vehicle checked. Ad auto parts checked the battery/alternator voltages as well as CCa for the battery. Alternator was supplying 14.xxV continuously and looked fine which is what I expected. Batter CCA was found about 150A showing its inability to provide starting current, the voltage also was low.

Thank you for coupon hint, it worked very well. I ordered online and got the battery installed for free the next day. Although my experience with that particular store is not the best, I finally got what I wanted. After new installation, car started well, and it continues to do so, my trip to Ohio went fine with no car trouble.

I am thankful to all of you for advice.
