Honda civic gsr swap p28 ecu running lean
Hey so I have a 1999 Honda civic ex with b18c swap, it runs and everything, revs to like 8100 but its running really lean, it has a virgin p28 ecu (last time I tried a jdm half-sized obd1 p72 ecu and the car would start and throw CEL, but then bog down and die.), vtec still engages with the p28 and no CEL or any bs like that, the gsr swap is all stock, yes it has the stock gsr manifold so secondary aren't working, and it seems to be making some weird noise around 1500 rpms when cold. What things will I need to do for it to run like a gsr should in a civic..(timing belt and water pump were changed, and all maint. done)
Of course it runs leans its fuel/ignition timing maps are for a SOHC 1.6 liter. Get it socketed and have someone burn a B18C chip basemap for you.

virgin p28 is mapped for a SOHC motor, the only reason vtec still works is cuz a single had vtec. u need either a GSR ecu or get your p28 chipped. i see you live in seattle...make the drive down to Tacoma and have Speedfactory chip it.

they chipped mine for around $100 if i remember right, and ive got a p28 also. im running a d16y8.
also, in most cases, more often then not, your knock sensor will throw a code if faulty. make sure your CEL still works? as in the bulb is not burned out

It is absolutely crazy you would run a stock P28 1.5L sohc ecu on a GSR 1.8L engine.
Start by going back to the proper ecu, or chip and tune that P28 properly

I'll have to refer back to my stack of papers, but there is a way to ad IAB control to some ECUs. Of course, if you used Hondata, you could use the wire for the AC, or another wire to actuate VTEC.
Or just ditch the dual runner intake, and tune it for that.

You should read into any reviews about any tuning place. See what tuning software the car had and what sort of build. A crazy build running Chrome will be a little harder than something like that with Hondata. We have a couple places around and they primarily do domestics. Finding someone who specializes in imports will be the best bet.
they both specialize in imports, but speedfactory is like a honda only place lol. fluid is more generic. i can garuntee you that speedfactory will be able to basemap it better. they shaved a second off my 1/4 mile time when i had them chip my p28
