Should I invest $20K dollars in a Civic SE worth $3K?
Should I invest 20 000 dollars on a car that is worth 3000 dollars ? The money would completly change the car from head to toe. The money would be spent on interior and exterior mods, suspension and brake mods, engine and forced induction mods and finally a brand new paint. No labor fees. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
its your money do what u want to do with it. everyone has their own style and likes of brand and ways they like to spend thier money. this is not a tech question. all these threads about what should i do is getting old. research some builds and threads and decide for yourself what u want to do.
I mean if you're that baller and you got 20K in disposable income I would like to think you would have more of a plan in spending it past asking strangers on a forum.
Hmm...out of tall that stuff mentioned...I didn't see security. Make that your FIRST priority.
Have somebody do a quality stealth install...then you'll know what room you have to work around for other interior mods, touchscreens in the dash etc.
If you put 20k into a car...and then it gets stolen...insurance company is still going to pay you like 2500 for your car
Be smart. It's your money too, very rarely do people that aren't into hondas see dumping that much money into one, but most everyone here can justify their purchases in their own minds. It's all about what it's worth to you.

unless its old enough to be called a classic where you can pay what you claim the cars worth as. but someone will have to come out to look at it.
either way that won't bring the car you spent 20k on when it gets stolen.

I would never consider a civic a classic unless your talking about those 70's models. as for spending $$$ its all about what you want to do with your car and what you want it to have.
I am making a hot rod out of a '91 single cab Dodge Dakota. A guy at a body shop told me it would not be worth $$$ what I would put in to a complete paint color change let alone other mods. I told him I am not putting money into it for the resale value, I am doing it because I want to.

I would assume he means the venture of putting that much into his car over time. switching parts until he gets it where he likes it. I had a 2001 Ram 4x4 that I put about 20k in over the time I had it. wheels, tires, lifts, gears, shocks, motor parts, etc... Its definately adds up in the long run. You'll never get your money back, but you end up with what you want. Until you see a new part in a magazine or internet lol.
Putting 20g's into a Civic.. You better like that car a hell of alot because you're never going to sell it. You'll never get even close to that back out of it.
If you love that civic more than a car you could get with that money, then by all means. I know if I had 20 grand, I'd drop my hatch and snag a Benz but that's just me. Honda luv

the only way I would do that is if I already had everything else in my life set up. good place to live, good job, etc. Even so 20k is alot to put in a car. that said if done right you can end up with something that has great performance and personal value. think of it this way, if you go out and buy a new Si for example, youll be paying well over 20k by the time you own it. You could build a car with superior performance for much less. I think you can do a great build for a lot less than 20k anyway.
Make sure it runs well first. I've seen way too many projects on CL where they've modded everything, but the car won't run. Nobody will be willing to pay for your custom mods if the engine dies and you have to resell it.
