Default Real Street Performance Fuel Pump Comparison Battle- Aeromotive Bosch Denso Walbro

RSP Fuel Pump Battle

With the recent release of Aeromotive's popular new Stealth 340lph in-tank fuel pump, we wondered, which of the 4 most popularly sold pumps on the market performed the best. We compared 4 fuel pumps total consisting of 3 in-tank pumps and 1 inline Pump:

Bosch 044 (inline)
Denso 290lph Supra Pump (in tank)
Walbro 255lph GSS342 (in tank)
Aeromotive 11142 340lph (in tank)

The Test

We sent one of each pump out to get tested at the respected, independant, and fully capable test facilty at Kinsler Fuel Injection. All tests were completed using a Sorenson DCS 20-50 power supply with Fluike 73 series D.V.O.M. for pump terminal voltage monitor, and a Fischer Porter tapered tube flow meter and Ashcroft temperature compensated Pressure Gauge with +/- .25% accuracy. The flow and amperage draw of each pump was tested at pressure levels of 40psi to 105psi in 5psi increments, the results were quite surprising.

Here are the results

I'm glad you guys took the time to do this.

I think this test really brings to light how nice that little aeromotive pump is. In the Honda community there are so many people who's power goals require more than a single Walbro (especially with E85), and this pump fits that perfectly.

Wow I guess when it comes time to upgrade my dual walbros I'll be buying the aeromotive. I guess we found a soon to be new Industry standard upgraded fuel pump (like the walbro use to be the standard).

I think the point was to just compare the smaller compact pumps, rather than include the bigger out of tank pumps (A1000, Magnafuel etc.). We all know those pumps will support big power. It's the smaller pumps that are always in question.

You can look forward to a part 2 where we test the bigger external pumps. But like "GT35R_EF" said .. this test was about the 4 most popular small pumps.

These 4 part numbers are our highest selling pumps. They sell more than anything else (the walbro being the highest selling by far) so we took our 4 most popular pump part numbers and tested them first.

Big Pumps are next

This and Full Blown Motorsports here in MN released their own version of the 340lph intake pump. Can post flow charts if anyone is interested.

For $70 a Walbro 255 does pretty damn good.... Would be nice to see a inline 255 vs inline 044 just for *****... i know the 044 is better but how much....

Knew the Aeromotive would be a good pump.

Thanks for the support guys. We appreciate those of you who purchased your pumps through our online store after reading this article. These tests do cost money, and honda-tech showing their support helps fund future tests that will help you pick the right parts for your build.

Thanks for doing the testing, sheds a lot of light for Fullblown users. We can't look down upon Walbro quite yet, I've been hearing from a very good source that they're about to release a better in-tank pump. It is said to outflow the Deatschwerks, still under testing though. I've been waiting patiently for the release that way I can utilize my Fullblown hanger.
