Default Noob from UK saying hello!

Hello Everyone,

My names Will and i like Hondas, god that sounded like i was at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting!! Started Building Hondas a fair few years back now with no experience and used a granny spec shopping car ek4 Civic as my project/learing tool. Over the course of a year or so i completley stripped the car and rebuilt using nice coilovers, upgrading brakes and importing an Integra type R motor from Japan. After a steep learning curve, lots of long nights and weekends over about 2 years it was complete and ready to be abused...

and then 3 days later some idiot pulled out on me and did this>>

Was absolutley gutted. Nothing i could do and luckily all parts where insured. 60mph t-boning a bmw e46 bloody hurts. Seat lifted off the rails and flung my head into the windscreen and chest into a nice 320mm momo wheel!! I ended up losing about 6 grand when the insurance finally paid out a year and a half after the crash!!

Onto better things... I decided that i couldn't buy another ek as i would always compare it to my old one which i did actually adore. So i just wanted to buy a ropey JDM DC2 Integra R, take it on track and kick its head in. After a month or so found a mechanically sound but abit of a minger JDM integra. But what did i do... I have spent the last 2 years stripping it down and making it mint(ish). Couldn't help myself and couldn't have a ropey car. Spent silly money on it now and we are finally getting somewhere with it. Fully caged, full flocked interior, big brakes, rock hard chassis set up, semi slick tyres etc etc and i love it. Just got it out of the workshop after a few months of hell. I thought i would try my hand at a simple wire tuck. Nothing fancy just a tidy up and delete my PAS, ABS and AC. Well this didn't happen. I went a bit mental and tucked, shaved and resprayed everything i could. I did it just to prove to myself i could really. I take pride in my car and it means alot to me that i tackle everything myself. Sorry to go on and on and bore you lot. Track time for 2011 starts as of Tomorow with a session at Oulton park. Then the day after a few sessions at Mallory before going back to Oulton for a half day on Wednesday making sure i use it properly .

96spec with 4lug 16"s? Did I miss something?

And can't say I like the DC5 stickers on a DC2, but the rest of the car is SUPER CLEAN!

Those are probably Sprint Wheels SW98.

How do you keep the engine bay so spotless?

Cheers guys, means alot to me .

Oh, and i didn't even know they where DC5 decals! I like them though . The wheels are made by Sprint Wheels in the UK. They are pretty damn strong and light but the best bit was the price. I really wanted some Enkei RPF1s and in time i will get some but for track wheels they are perfect as if i have a little off and buckle a wheel i can simply drive 15 mins down the road and pick up a new one .

Dash and litrally all interior has been flocked. Flocking is the coating of a substrate with nylon fibres using a high voltage electro-static process. Each individual nylon fibre (flock) is just a fraction of a millimetre thick. Nylon is used due to it's excellent durability, strength and high melting point.

Engine bay is actually really easy to keep clean. Just spending a few mins each week to keep it clean isn't a hassle. There's nothing to get in your way so its quite simple to clean .

Spent a good few hours last night tweeking my suspension setup adjusting hights, RARB and removing splash sheilds and the car is just insane now. I was running a little too low and the ride felt crashy. Glad i sorted it with only a few hours before i am on Oulton Park .

Again thanks for the replies people! Honda-Tech has such a high standard of cars on here i was affraid to post my humble DC2 up !! Will update with track pics and vids within a day or two.

Just can't have a car without making it great, eh? Looks beautiful. I can understand the notion but w/o the $, I'll keep on driving my beater as is. That dash is wow

Cheers guys .

All in all yesterday was incredible and litrally made the last few years of saving, building an pain worth it all. First lap i was on with a Corsa on slicks and a VW cup race car again on slicks. Past both within a lap!!! I couldn't beleive it! As the day progressed i was gaining in confidence. Had no hairy moments what so ever and drove well within my comfort zone. It took me a few laps to get used to how late the apexis where on some of the corners! I am used to batering it down mountain passes so thes long high speed corners took some getting used to. Lots to learn still and i really need to get my temps more stable as after 4 laps the temps would rise a touch so i would back off. Unfortunatley my camera run out of power so i only got this vid from earlier on in the day. Not that fast but ok. As i sorted my gearing out later on and worked on my turn ins my lap times kept dropping . Tyre screetch through Druids was imense and 100mph through island was again very cool..
