Default what's the easiest full swap upgrade?

i have an STD d15B1 w/ 4 speed tranny.
i want to keep it OBD0 and quite possibly non-vtec.
i don't want to put a B1 or B2 in it, and i'm pretty sure i want to go MPFI.
and i want to keep a cable tranny. so i know the hf,dx or si will work.
as for an engine, i assume a d16a6 would be the easiest swap... or should i go z6 or zc.
and if i go zc should i go dohc non-v-tec? or sohc w/ v-tec?
is there any other engines that meet my criteria that i should keep an eye out for? or do i have my bases covered?

also, i know i'll have to get a corresponding ecu with whichever swap i do. but i'd really like to keep my stock axels if possible.

sounds like you need to do a lil more research. nobody is going to know what swap is better for you than you will. but that being said a d16a6 would probably be the easiest and cheapest. you can keep your axles with any d-series swap but i wouldnt suggest it as they are significantly weaker than the si/dx counterpart.

the faq should answer an questions you have,

in my area i can get my hands on a zc easier than an a6. and there are a **** load of pieced together y8's and z6's also.

my engine leaks a little oil, yet the oil level is never low, because coolant seems to be mixing itself in with the oil. the motor runs like a top. but i'm pretty sure my top and bottom end are shot to ****. so i just want to get rid of the garbage. the dohc non-vtec ZC would be the quickest engine for my application.

b18 or b20. both non-vtec engine. a bit more money..theres no such thing as an easy swap. they are all the same concept. take motor out, put motor in. wire mpfi anyways.

but you want to retain your axle..i think since you have an STD model..you would need to switch out your knuckles anways and new axles cause STD are smaller? than other cars..d or b series..

someone chime in..

pretty much any d-series is going to be the same in terms difficulty. but if you go vtec your going to have to either go obd1 or run vtec controller or rpm switch. i have a dohc zc in my car right now and i love it. a dohc zc head will outflow any sohc head by leaps and bounds. I also like still being obd0.

if your intrested in the zc check out http://www.thezcr.com/forums/
lots of zc specific info over there.

he can use his axles as long as he keeps his front hub assemblies. the inner spline counts are the same. if he swaps to dx/si axles he needs to swap hubs also
i installed a y8/si tranny in a friends std no issues.

alrighty, regardless of what swap you're doing, you will have to swap to MPFI first. pick up an MPFI manifold + injectors and dizzy and ECU and do the swap, tons of guides out there.
After that, you've got a huge platform to work with.
DOHC ZC
D16A6
SOHC ZC
D16z6
D16y8
Mini-me swap (d15/d16 bottom end, vtec head)

And those are just the direct bolt in ones (AKA D-series motors)
People say if you want to make more than 200 hp with a naturally aspirated motor, you should swap to B series. D series has a lot of potential energy that can be had for relatively cheap (through means of turbo), compared to a different B or K series swap... just have to set a goal... what is this car to you, what is it used for, what is it going to remain being used for?

B18a. all you need is the swap, mount kit and mpfi swap. It will be the best swap for your buck.

i'd like to spend something like thishttp://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/2363374290.html (i assume the guy means sohc zc)
i would most definitely like a dohc zc obd0 (does the si cable tranny adapt to that?)
but if i can pick up a full swap for cheap, i would most consider that.

Wait I thought if you were doing an engine swap all you would have to do is wire the car up from DPFI to MPFI? Is this if you want to stay D series?

i don't want a weak d15b1 with a lame cam and and restricted throttle body.
i need a full swap.. tranny, ecu and engine. (and any jumper harness or axles i may need with ceratin swaps.)
i would like to make it easier for me, OBD0 and non-vtec. so i guess i'm pretty much looking at an a6 or dohc zc.

For any swap that isn't DPFI, you need to wire up MPFI.
If the swap requires a different level of onboard diagnostics, you'll need to convert that as well.

Vtec doesn't make it much harder to swap. I think the worst part about the b1 is the dpfi anyways.

If you go for that VTEC motor on craigslist, it will drop right in.
You'll have to convert to MPFI. If you have an Si transmission, use that instead of the DX one that comes with it... The DX is a 5 speed, so it's an upgrade from your 4 speed.
Re-use your axles as well.
That's a really good price for a swap, big upgrade from your STD motor.

do a b18a1 swap.
very common and super easy in comparison to other b-series.
you wire in mpfi, and you stay obd0.

if i get a complete new motor, wire harness and ecu, i still have to wire in MPFI?
i figured since i'm getting everything i could just plug and play.
