Rally R Update & Hillclimb Video
Race season is upon us, thought I’d give a quick update on 98-0891. Spent all winter doing a rebuild, and added some fun bits, the most notable of which being boost. We’re now pushing 7psi through the DPR stage 6 head, 1000cc Injector Dynamics’, running E-85. Dynoed (in Colorado at ~5,700ft) at 289whp/219tq. Spools nice and quick, very reliable power for rallies. Stays cool with a pretty big Fluidyne radiator and oil cooler, and manages to spin the huge rally tires through 3 gears. Certainly a change in driving style for me, but a lot of fun.
Below is my on-board from this past weekend, my first time racing the car boosted, and my first hillclimb in over 2 years. We took the class win and weren’t too far off the course record for a 2WD rally car. Hard to tell from the video, but it rained for about 18 hours straight and the road is soaked. Managed to use the moisture to our advantage, so you won’t see much sideways action, as the dirt got super sticky by the time we ran. Personally, I still need to shake off the driving rust, I’m coasting way too much and my braking points just suck. Apparently it’s not like riding a bike.
Next up- the 89th running of the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. If any of you are in Colorado around June 26th, please come on by and say hi. It won’t be hard to find the ITR. www.ppihc.com

It's a kit I came across that was made by XS Engineering for the GSR. It's just a basic cast mani, with a GT2876R made by AVO. Had to mod the dp, but other than that, everything fit well. I'll find a pic..
